Since I am seriously considering changing to TWC, I would like some pricing information. I've checked TWC's website, but I am a little confused regarding pricing. I was looking at the Digipac 1000...and I would want 1 HD DVR, two standard DVR's, and I would be bundling this with Roadrunner. I see they have an equipment price of 7.95. Now is this added to the DVR pricing ? How much more are the HD DVR's ?
Does anyone have a similiar plan going to what I want to do ? How much are you paying ?
If it's in about $10 of my Directv plan including what I pay for Sunday Ticket...I will switch.

Any help ??
Thanks
Matt

Looking at their website, it is still confusing...maybe it is because they want you to call up and order something....

Seriously, all boxes rent at $7.95 and that is noted in the DigiPic area, but the DVR has a service fee of $6.95 addtional to the box rental for HD DVRs and $5.95/month additional for the SD DVRs.

So your monthly charges are $49.95 for DigiPic 1000 plus $7.95 x 3 boxes plus $6.95 plus $5.95 plus $5.95 for the HD DVR service and each additional SD DVR service (each box has a service fee).

The total monthly charge without the $6.95 HD package is $92.65/month but if you are a new customer, discounts and special offers could apply on your package pricing...give them that call! ;)

I recommend the 8300 for the HD and SD models for its better channel changing and spelling features...good luck.

Well my D* bill over 12 months with the Sunday Ticket comes to about $93/mo. I like the idea of two DVR's and a HD DVR. I have two DVR's now. I also noticed I would be saving about $5-6 a month for roadrunner.

Hmmm....the decision gets interesting.

I'm not sure why you find that decision harder after running through the pricing. For about the same price with the Sunday Ticket, you don't and can't get Sunday Ticket. Plus the bonus of fewer HD channels, terrible analogs, and locked down DVRs with non-transferrable archives if the box has issues. If I had Sat access, that's what I would have.

Joseph S: I disagree with you on the fewer HD channels...Directv does not have INHD 1 & 2 nor TNT-HD, but it does have Universal HD.

Directv has a pricey HD DVR and not everybody wants/needs to archive programmes as much as you do....your choice.

Matt: TWC offers specials for new customers like you and unlike Directv, no contracts to sign and DVRs to buy....go for it!

Oh, come on, TNT-"HD". ;) Universal HD is what TNTHD could have been. They do get those Sinclair stations too if they have an antenna with their dish. Plus all the extra sports HD options available... TWC is having a hell of a time adding these PPV stations and in the process has interfered with or in the case of the Enron premiere destroyed programming we're actually paying for during this "testing." The analogs are just horrible. I really think that needs to be fixed ASAP and before these PPV HD stations show up. With all the HD bandwidth issues I've seen these past three years, I don't see much expansion coming from TWC. When the trees grow leaves, TWC's CBS is flaky. When NBC goes half power, TWC is flaky. I just don't see how it is going to be any better as more folks start sucking the bandwidth and compression increases to fit PPV, etc.

I made the switch last fall and couldn't be happier. Nothing against my Sat provider, but TWC offered more HD content (that I would watch) and no equipment to purchase. I was too confused on pricing so I went their website and requested someone call me regarding set up (link below). I got in a 'dish buy back' program and I get RR for $29.95 a month for 36 months w/no contract (and no, I didn't really have to give them my dish). I have referred some of my wife's friends to the sales rep and they all are now very happy with their set ups.

I studied the comments from users on this site for a long time before making the switch and have had some DVRs go bad on me. But I also go to my friends house and my in-laws house who all have DirecTV w/OTA and no FOX6 HD and don't want to spend that much money for a DVR. It was worth it to me.

I considered switching to TWC after Voom closing. They offered very impressive deal of $102/month (with taxes and all fees) which included all packages with HD (Hbo, Showtime and HD pack), 1 HD DVR, 1HD receiver and Road Runner service. I asked them to write this offer into my file (I have RoadRunner). I wanted to check Dish. I called Dish several times trying to get HD DVR 942, but refused to offer it. So when Voom deadline approached I called TWC to sign. They said they can't find any records in my file and we should start over. Then I was switched to another person, who told me she will call me back in 30 minutes. After waiting 3 hours I called Dish again, talked to retention department and I get 942 and 811 receivers with free SuperDish update. Three hours later I got a call from TWC but I said to them that I don't have any questions.
As for the Dish service. I am very impressed with 942. PQ is so much better then it was 1 year ago when I used 6000 receiver before switching to Voom. SD PQ on 942 is much better then Voom SD too. And next day after they installed SuperDish Dishh announced Voom package for $5/month. That was something I suspected to happen, because I asked installer to keep 61.5 dish which I used with Voom (before Voom I used it with Dish for HD package).
About pricing. TWC offer (HBO, Showtime) was a limited for 16 month period. My current Dish bill + Road Runner will be $130/month. But it includes all premium chanells (Everything Pack) and much more HD chanells (Dish and locals) then TWC. Moreover, I am waiting when DSL will be available (I don't know why it is not available now) and will make it $115.

I think Dish is a good alternative to Directv as you don't have to come down with as much cash for a decent HD DVR - the 942 - and you can get those Voom channels if you prefer and can get all your favourite local HD stations OTA.

Dish got some good reviews and top ranking in customer satisfaction recently, too
.
The only concern now is that SBG cancelling your WB and UPN locals on June 1st on Dish unless there is some final hour of contract negotiation.

HDTivo now $699. Credit from D*, sell your HD box and current Tivo = The best option out there. It's high priced for a reason. It's awesome! Again you get what you pay for.

I'm a former D* fan who just switched from D* last Sunday.  Go to the mayfair store.  I did, the service there is much better than what you get on the phone.

I got digipic 1000 with a HD DVR.  My total bill, including roadrunner, will be $80/month until January 2007.  Assuming ~40 for roadrunner, I'm only paying $40 for the tv portion - quite a discount over the standard rate.

HD pic quality is much better than directv.  SD pic quality is OK, about the same as D*.  Not nearly as bad as when I tried cable for about a month 2 years ago.

Make sure to specifically request a 8300 HD DVR, and have them put it on your work order.   Otherwise they'll bring the inferior 8000...

sp44again

I'm paying $123 for all the channels on D* with 2 DVR's, one regular box, and Roadrunner.

FiberOptic

I pay around $165 including taxes

I have Digipic 4000 (2 TVs)  it includes all digital, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, TMC
Movies on demand.  I also have the HD package with the 8300 on 1 TV and SD on the other, but TVs have DVRs  My price also includes Road runner.

I am very happy with TWC especially getting the HD DVR at a low monthly rate

A question I have for you TWC guys (as I contemplate a switch) is how do you handle multiple TV's with digital cable?

Ex:I have our house wired with coax in every room.  I have one Direct TV HD box on the main set.   The other main set runs of a Direct TV box, that also feeds into a modulator on ch. 21.

Picture quality isn't ideal, but with that modulator and an RF remote, I can literally toss a TV in any room as needed, and do.  I usually move my 13" set around to Kitchen, basement, kids room if they are sick, etc.  The remote works great, because it works in any room in the house on the main box, and I get all the SD channels.

If I want to get digital cable and all the channels with TWC, my understanding is I need to rent a digital cable box.  If I rent a box, won't I have to cart the box around the house with me when I move a TV in a certain area?   I understand the ch 1-99 analog will go through the coax with no need for a box....but I want to many times watch the digital channels.  example: watch NBA league pass games on the basement TV as I do now on Ch.21 with my modulator.

How do I solve this problem with TWC, without having to rent 4 digital boxes?   Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is no reason you could not do EXACTLY the same thing with TWC.

Put an HD 8300 box on your main set and an SD 8300 box on your modulator.

As you mentioned, you can get 2-99 analog with no box, so you can plug any "cable ready" TV into your pre-wired house and get those channels all the time.
