Quote'm not disagree with you guys, I just don't understand the hatred of PPV.

It's more of an issue that it is ruining our current paid HD stations on a regular basis and is preventing the addition of future HD stations. If it was HD PPV and unlimited new HD stations, I wouldn't care. Although, I still wouldn't be buying PPV movies.

I ordered Shark Tale in HD since I have a couple coupons for free movies. WOW does it have bad artifacting. For most scenes where nothing much is happening it's fine, and it is some nice HD, but any time there's ANY high detail or medium to fast motion, it just KILLS the picture. I've never seen such bad artifacting.

TWC - Get a better encoder or higher bitrate... SERIOUSLY.

I thought it looked great.  No issue with the pictures on my Pioneer display, at least as long as I'm not seriously looking for them...  If I really want to see artifacts, I can go anywhere to find them, including PBS.  It's mpeg after all... :D
Maybe some other gremlin?

No idea... if it was a problem on my side wouldn't it just not come thru instead of just artifacting to hell? The picture never dropped out or had dark or frozen patches. Just a lot of artifacting wherever there's high motion, and it doesn't recover quickly either. I haven't changed a thing and none of the other HD channels have a problem this big. (Well PBS isn't so hot, but at least the artifacts don't remain for so long when they do occur.)

By artifacts, do you mean when things get blocky and the picture is made up of a lot of squares?  I see that on PBS-HD fairly often.  It's extremely annoying.

Mark Strube

Yep! It does it as much as PBS if not more. When there's barely anything going on in the picture it's just about perfect. But as soon as there's a little motion... watch out!!

StarvingForHDTV

I wouldn't pay money to watch artifacting.  You should call up and demand a refund.

Mark Strube

Well I'm using some free coupons I got, so don't really care.
