Echostar said today it will add 10 Voom channels starting May 1, 2005

They will be on the 61.5W satellite right now but not on 148W.

The channels are ::  Rush HD  ,  Gallery HD  ,   Rave HD  ,  Ultra HD  ,  Equator HD  ,
Monsters HD  ,  Animania HD  ,  Majestic HD  ,  Gut TV HD  ,  HD News

also on Reuters News they will start with 10 channels from Voom and carry all 21 channels by 2006  Rainbow said.

So you can say it, May 1st Echostar will be the leader in HD.

Yes I was reading through the sat guys.us forum today, too, and there is much confusion about if it is really Sunday May 1st for sure, if Voomers will get to use their old boxes, a real mess.  (sat guys has a cable forum now, too!)

Some comments I read were like Echostar subs will just have to wait until Sunday and see what happens and the upgrade will cost $5 more over the $9.99 a month fee for the HD package and it goes on and on... :D

Great if it occurs as Voom had some great HD channels, depending on preference and if E* can kick D* as the real "HD leader" with these additions, great.

Who knows. maybe TWC will wake up and finally add some more HD channels since the last time was fall of 2004. ;)

They have listed the channel numbers for the new channels:

9470  RAVE
9471 Equator
9472 Gallery
9474 Animania
9476 Rush
9478 Ultra
9479 Guy TV
9480 Majestic
9481 Monsters
9482 HD News

Will see what happens tomorrow if they turn on, their is a rumor the the HD pack will go up in price by $5.00 from $9.99 to $14.99 for 15 channels.

I thought about getting Voom when it came out but the cost then was to high for me.  I glad that Dish Network has been able to pick up the channels from Rainbow Media.

The only other channel that I would like to see added to dish is The Outdoor Channel 2 HD.  They did lauch early on two cable systems but no satellite yet, the big kick off is set for July 2005 and I have been able to pick them up with the BUD dish.  Can't wait till everybody can watch it too.

Hey TWC are you catching this? The press release said that Voom channels will be distributed to both sat and cable. TWC  Are you a leader or a pretender??

That's nice.  It turns out VOOM is worth more dead than alive.....  Hopefully more providers will pick some scraps off the carcass.

Here I thought I was going to get some extra channels.

Turns out I need to add a second dish in order to get them.

I feel ripped off.

Is a second dish sometyhing I can add myself?

Ok, so just got off the phone with Dish.  They said that it is a $100 for them to come out and install another dish.  They said nothing about a monthly fee for it.    Either way it requires a second dish.  So I guess it means that I need 3 dishes for Dish Network in order to receive all of their HD programming.  The standard dish, one for CBS, and now one for Voom channels.

SBC/Dish network told me $198.00 for the second dish

The Voom channels are on the same dish that CBS-E is, 61.5.  I have both, activated the Voom channels this AM, and , because I am in the Chicago DMA, which is O & O, I get CBS-E HD.   The "Voom Originals" package is an extra $5/month.  If you are in the Chicago DMA you get the Dish @ 61.5 installed for free if you subscribe to the Chicago locals  because some of the Chicago locals are also on 61.5.

Call a local Dish network retailer and ask how much they would charge to come out & out up a dish @ 61.5 to add to your system.

Malamute

Yes, I have OD on HD.

You need the second dish pointed at 61.5 slot, check this am too and called dish and had them turned on.  For $5 more month is worth it.  Why I added the second dish is that CBS signed my DNS waiver, so I get the CBS HD east feed.

All I have to say is Echostar pulled a realy big fast one over Direct TV buy adding the voom channels.  Also that they are buying the satellite too, so it made sense to keep it a secert from everybody about the Deal till the last day or too.
