I need an adapter to transfer an optical audio signal to digital coaxial.  I've seen a couple on random websites but I'm not sure which way to go.  Any suggestions?

Mikey

From my online reading, these adapters don't always work the best...no matter the brand or $$ spent.  It's better to just get what you need (new receiver) to make the digital audio connection directly with no adapter.

Just my 2 cents.

I too have heard bad things about the conversion boxes.  However, if you asking because you have both optical and coax inputs but the optical inputs are filled, then consider something like this:

Monoprice has the same thing, but much cheaper...

I have actually used one of these on previous receivers before they came with a dozen digital inputs.  It works as you would think, and it makes you get off the couch...not sure if that is good or bad.

Tom, is this the same supplier, or even online store?  I purchase a ton a wiring from monoprice for the school district I work at.  I want to make sure that I get the same quality.

As far as I can tell it's the same supplier, and the online store runs off the same database. I even see the same in-stock/backorder info for the same items in both sites.

I'm guessing it's just an affiliate marketing deal where these guys set up their own site, and get a cut of what they sell in exchange for their marketing effort. But I've bought all my stuff from Monoprice in the past, and I'm now buying from these guys. I have not noticed any difference in quality, ship time or customer service.

When I bought a 15ft HDMI cable, I checked both monoprice and ehdmi.. shipping was cheaper at ehdmi.

I have one of these and it doesn't work well at all. I can't remember exactly what the problem is since I stopped using it a few years ago.

Thanks for the input.  If the adapters don't work very well, I'll probably go with that 3X1 Optical Manual Switch.  It sounds like it should do the trick.  Darn Toshiba and their audio output discrepancies...:bang:
