Nothing specific. Just an obversation that people have issues with SAT/OTA and Cable. Nothing is perfect. Pros and Cons on all sides.

So summerfun, you aren't experiencing any problems with INHD or HDNET channels (when you have actually watched them) in the past week or so?

No, they are working just fine. I can't say I have watched them a lot lately, but before responding to this email, I watched each one for about 15 minutes to test and they are both fine.

Freeze ups are especially bad today. Hdnet being the worst. Come on TWC fix the problem!  :bang:

Looks like you all ought to switch to a provider that answers your problems in minutes & doesn't leave you on hold, or worse yet hang up.........Cable, what a waste of money

I am a TWC customer and have not experienced any of the problems specified in this post relating to HDNet or HDNet Movies.  I have the SA DVR (I believe it is the 8000 model - I'm not at home right now).  The picture and audio have been perfect.

Ones installed by the cable company --- for free if you really need one.  They use several types.  Qintar is one, Antec is another.  I'm sure there are others.

Thank you for testing and checking...will try again to see why the freezing up occurs and how many times..UGH!

Sometimes it'll go on for awhile before it happens, but once it starts happening to me, it seems to keep going every five minutes or so.  I've been watching InHD2 for a little while now and it's getting blocky every few minutes... I still haven't tried HDNet again.  I know how to work my way into the diagnostic menu, but half of the things are numbers that mean nothing to me.  Where could I find the signal strength if anyone knows what I'm talking about?

I understand the difficulty in diagnosing a problem, they just never acknowledged that I said others seemed to have the same issue.  As far as service, it has been perfect in our house as long as we have been with cable.  The only issue before was a rebooting box, but that was easily fixed and that box has been working great for the 4 or 5 years that we've had it.  This is the only other issue I've had with TWC other than some outages and the slow transitions in our village.

Funny how as soon as we talk about some issues with cable, all the satellite preachers come out of the woodwork and let us know how their wonderful, expensive boughten equipment works perfectly 100% of the time (of course) and how everyone should switch to satellite. Maybe they should just keep their mouths shut unless they have something constructive to add to the thread?

Most of the shows I watch on HDNet is Nothing But Trailers and an occasional movie... recently I haven't been able to get a totally perfect recording of nothing but trailers, and a recent recording of THX 1138 had an error every half hour or so. I think HDNet is more prone to these problems since it has a higher bitrate than most of the other HD channels... higher bitrate = more touchy to interference or weak signal... or at least that would make sense.

I brought up the fact I was looking into cable but keep seeing these problem threads. Not that everybody should switch from satellite to cable?
You sound defensive cause you are frustrated with problems with cable. I would really like to get digital cable and get this all-in-one package since I will have the other two.

I would do it if I were you. Yes, there are issues from time to time, but overall, I have been EXTREEMLY happy with TWC. Even when there have been issues, they always get them fixed. I too hear some of the horror stories, but in six years, none have happened to me or many others.

Unfortunately, human nature is to tell the world if something goes wrong, but stay quiet when things are going right.

Go for it!!!

When I have had issues with TWC, for the years and years I have had them, including the times I just had them for internet and standard cable along with Directv (when D* didn't have locals and still today, no HD locals), they have done their best to follow through for the most part.

Sometimes, human error takes its toll like with everything, one bad CSR or oddball installer who forgets your box model number, but the issue gets resolved more often than not. :D

When I had issue with a neighhbour's Digital Phone number and porting problems, the tech went out of their way to work it out and I got an intelligent and truthful answer and it wasn't even my service!

The whole thing with cable is that it's local, the TWC call center is here, (not in India), so you have local operators with local issues affecting all of us-here.  ;)

You get more bang for the dollar in the long run, (including a HD DVR you don't have to buy), so bear with it if a problem occurs, the company-installer or CSR might just live down your street. :)

It's even better to have the cable/HD service, internet access and phone bill all on one bill, but it takes some getting used to seeing it all together, but a nice feature nevertheless!

So if you are thinking about cable (with its HD DVR), internet and digital phone service in one complete package and on one bill, go for it and remember...no contracts to sign to get anything.

I am on Charter using a Motorola 6200.  HDNet and HD movies have frequent problems, as described by others.  It can't be TWC.  This is true over component or firewire.

Thanks for the post-now it is either what Mr. Cuban (HDNET) is sending us cable folks and the satellite folks are in denial (as always, IMO) and they ARE having problems, too. ;)
At least I know it is not just TWC...thank you! :D
