Quote from: kevbeck122Well, they do have the ALL-N-ONE thing which includes every service they offer.  I couldn't find much on TWC Milwaukee's website (look under special offers), but on another TWC site, they say you can save hundreds per year when going this route.  There's a basic, plus and premium package, which basically is your Digipic 1000, 2000 or 4000.  I really wish they would put the prices on the site, unless they are hidden deep enough that I can't find them.

I got a flyer in the mail. It was $107 for Digipic1000, RR, and Digital Phone. Box's cost extra of course.

Quote from: summerfunI talked to a couple of friends that have Vonage and they said they are only about 80% happy with the service. You guys seem to be happier than that with TWC digital phone, so I am giving it a shot. They will install on the 15th. Thanks for all the feed back.

I'm 100% happy with Vonage. Much clearer than my 2 year old underground SBC feed. I could never get them to get the noise out of the line. SBC always said it was internal wiring issues. Funny that with Vonage using the same internal lines it is as clear as highly polished glass.

My only bad experience was having to call Vonage twice to get the number transfers straightened out. I transfered both my main number and my fax number to Vonage. They had to do a little work to transfer the fax line, but the customer service was great.

Quote from: Mark StrubeI know this is going a bit OT but since it was already discussed here... anybody know of some special deal we could get to lower our bill? I remember I switched to digipic 2000 when I realized it's the same price as 1000+ 2 premiums but then I also got the ondemand for the same price by switching to 2000. It just seems like we're paying A LOT, I can't imagine paying the full price for the 4000 package.

Is there a special deal if you get cable/internet/phone all in one?

I currently have:

Dig 2000         69.95
HD box             7.95
HD DVR           14.90
SD DVR           13.90
HD Pkg             6.95
RR                   40.00 (pkg deal)
Dig Phone       39.95 (pkg deal)
                      ---------
Total              193.60 plus tax

I just called and did a little complaining about my price compared to others on this board and they gave me a promotional discount of $28/month droping me to$165.60 plus tax starting now and good until next March. I guess the squeaky wheel does get some grease.

I should add that it said the prices were good only to June of next year. Hopefully you can keep calling and get better prices after it ends.

I think TWC wants me to keep my billing as it is...no reduction was possible so I may cut my package to the DigiPic 3000, er, HBO/Cinemax/Showtime and save at least $18.95 before taxes and fees...we'll have to have a family discussion...nice you guys had luck with it. :(

I thought I saw somewhere before RR offered its VOIP that they contracted with vonage to provide the service anyway.

I have had vonage for 6 months at $24.99 unlimited plus a local incomming calls number in the UK for extra $5, it all works great, as does there customer service

WHO did you talk to and how did you get it...did you mention our forum?
I am glad for you but cannot seem to reach anyone to talk to like you did...did you threaten with...er, satellite? :p

kevbeck122

Back when we had maybe 50 channels or something and I was complaining to them about not having digital cable and more channels, I threated to switch to D*.  I think they gave me all of the premiums free for two months, but of course that was when there was only one channel per premium service.

I just called the regular number and asked to talk to someone about what I am paying for cable. They switched me to another department, I don't know who, I would guess it was billing or sales.

I told them I wanted to lower my price and asked for any current programs or specials. They said, "wait one minute, I will switch you to someone that can help you with that". When the next person answered the phone, I explained that I have been a very long time customer and I had ALL their services, Cable, RR, and Digital Phone and that other people I knew were paying a lot less than I was. She said, "give me a minute, let me see what I can do". She came back and said, "I can put you on the current new customer special and it would lower your bill by $28". I thanked her and it was done.

The Digital Phone ads from TWC should indicate that you will get to keep your original residence's phone number-provided that your original phone company- is NOT Verizon.
There have been incidents as of late regarding customers who were NOT originally SBC in my area, attempting to hold TWC's ads to the letter of keeping there original phone numbers, which makes sense, but this does NOT occur when changing over to Digital Phone from TWC from Verizon phones.

Being so close to the border, a good phone plan like this from TWC is great, considering the long distance bill calls from just over the state line and there IS a saving, Verizon just doesn't want you to get it using their phone numbers.

The result?

They get Digital Phone, it's a great service, just not with your original phone number - for the past few months...because lovely Verizon wants to play hardball.
By hardball, they won't release their phone numbers, anymore, to "port" them over to TWC Digital Phone customers!
I don't know how many customers got to issue friends, neighbours and many other contacts their "new" phone number to get the benefits of Digital Phone who were (now) former Verizon customers, but the list, I am sure, is growing.

I thought it was the LAW that they had to let you keep your number. I wonder how Verizon is getting away with this?

IIRC, land line phone numbers are not necessarily portable, especially if you move.  This is because land line service from some outfits like TDS and verizon is actually leased from SBC.  SBC allots a certain range of phone numbers to each of its lessors and these numbers may not be portable due to limitations on SBCs end.  Secondly if you move, you may move to a location where you old number is not supporded w/ the new switch.  If you had been paying a "line portability fee" however, you could complain to get that refunded for the entire time you had service.

Cellphone numbers and VOIP numbers are a different breed because calls are routed by your service provider and may never see a PTSN switch.  Cell phone numbers are totally portable to another cellphone and VOIP numbers are totally portable to another VOIP.  But you could still experience problems porting numbers between a cellphone, landline, or VOIP service.
