9/16/2004 to be exact. That is the last new HD offering from TWC. ( ESPNHD )
Seems like the HD push from TWC has been slowed to a crawl. At this rate I'll be an old man before I see a majority of the stations in HD! :bang:  :bang:

Maybe even though more and more HDTV sets are sold this past year throughout the locations where TWC has its cable systems, TWC just doesn't care anymore.
Maybe they figure when they got ESPN HD it was it for them. :o

Since Voom is having problems - even though its for other reasons like discussed in other threads...TWC might think HD channels aren't as important to us HDTV owners... a corporate "mindset"...too bad for us.

Scanning through the Comcast and Cox cable websites I notice that these systems have some of what TWC does not have and some they do...its almost like if you could get both cable systems in your neighbourhood, you'd have to have both to get all the HD channels available.

Comcast has INHD 1 & 2 but no HDNET channels but it DOES have Cinemax HD and Starz HD...go figure.  Comcast is also negotiating with Sinclair for HD locals to put on their systems with mixed results, too...unlike TWC even trying.
Cox has Universal HD as far as I can see, but it depends on location.

If TWC wants to add something it could at least be maybe ESPN-HD2 and Universal HD to the HD package plus add a couple of those HD channels Comcast has and we'd be set for awhile, at least...

Has it really been that long?

I don't understand when somebody is complaining about lack of HD at TWC, D*, E*.
There is an easy FIX - VOOM. It will cost you only $1 to install up to three receivers + programming fees and you can get more than 40 HD channels.
Maybe Voom has problems with Cablevision, Echostar, but I DO NOT HAVE any problems with my Voom setup. If Voom goes dark I will not loose any money - I got install and receivers FREE. :D
So, these complains are worthless.

AndrewP: gb4fan92 and I are wondering why TWC, with its large base of subscribers (including those HDTV owners) and a stable company, unlike Voom, is lacking new HD channel additions for so long.
We cable folks like (maybe its just me) that we have a cable going into our  houses, condos or apartments and not a dish (or two, like Echostar) on the roof (or wherever)
-and like it that way. :D

Glad you like Voom and hope you get to enjoy it further...does Voom have DVRs, too?

I just investigated Voom last night and they look to be introducing an HD-DVR sometime soon.

I guess I'm used to TWC being slow.  I think we were the last area to be upgraded to digital cable/RR service and the analog channels increase.  Even after numerous complaints by customers, like myself, and the village president, it still took them a long time to get everything up and running.

kevbeck122: Do you have a link about the HD DVR?
 :)
Some of us that don't mind a dish could add Voom to their line up and keep, say, TWC for HD locals, HDNET/HDNET Movies/INHD 1 & 2
(HD channels Voom does not have)
Then do two HD DVRs, perhaps.

They don't go into much detail, but here's the link: http://www.voom.com/see_it/future.shtml

Since they include an OTA antenna and your HD locals come through the box, I'd assume the DVR functionality would work with the locals as well.

Thanks, but Voom has had that in their website for many months and searching further, looks like Voom was to have this HD DVR since last year.  :(

Maybe Voom is waiting to see if it survives, now...good luck all you Voom-ers!

Oh... I just looked more into it.  I guess people were now saying that March was supposed to be the release month, but March is over.  Doesn't Cablevision's agreement to keep Voom going expire today?  They're probably more concerned right now with how and if it's going to be operated rather than giving the customers a DVR.

AndrewP

My undersanding with Voom HD DVR is that as soon as Voom separates from Cablevision they will release DVR. It is just not practical and probably impossible to do this under Cablevision control.
Their DVR will be one of a kind - they call it home media center. You will be able to connect this device with small clients and use it with several TVs.
And I am sorry if I offended some renters, I know that for you the only choice is TWC. But homeowners - come on, get Voom already.
Voom OTA antenna delivers all local channels includinng low power Fox6 and WB, UPN which are still missing from TWC.
A lot of folks at Voom forum expect HDnet appear on Voom after separation from Cablevision. There is some kind of feud between Mark Cuban and Jim Dolan (CEO of Cablevision, visit http://www.jimdolansucks.com). InHD - unlikely at this moment unless sometime later courts order InHD to be offered by the fair price to satellite companies.

They have to come up with Hundreds of Millions of Dollars to keep VOOM going.  I guess nobody is beating down the door to offer their money in sacrifice.
