I have to believe that this must have been covered at some time in this forum - but does anyone know what the official reason is that 10-1 is 10 timeshifted by three hours and 10-2 is 36 timeshifted by three hours?  I can't figure out what the appeal of this is ?? I'll admit that I very selfishly would like them to similcast instead of delaying these feeds because it would make setting up antennas so much easier. I seem to constantly run into installations where getting one or the other is difficult to get in on the analog side and meanwhile the channel 8 feed is just booming in with a beautiful picture no problem. DTV may have it's problems - but analog s@#ks.!

Neither can I.  I don't have analog anymore, and I find this very disturbing.  I also can't figure out why they don't show Frontline in widescreen on 36-1.

I did a little searching on MPTV's web site and did not come up with anything conclusive.  It's my opinion that 10-1 is the replacement for analog 10 and for the time being untill analog is shut down,  they time shift by 3 hours so that it has less of an appearance of duplicate programming.  As far as Frontline goes, I would think that MPTV would send through the wide screen when the program is wide screen, but not all Frontline programs are.  There are 4 SD and 1 HD PBS feeds comming off of AMC 3.  When Frontline or any other SD or ED program is wide screen on one of the satellite SD channels it shows up as widescreen on the satellite SD channel.  Why MPTV chooses not to put those programs through as such I do not know.  Maybe there is a  technical issue going on that we do not understand.  AMC 3 also carries the Montana PBS feed, which is a mix of some of the national stuff and their local stuff.  Getting back to the SD widescreen on satellite.  the picture quality of some of the widescreen programming is so good it is realy hard to tell it from some of the HD content that PBS runs on their HD channel.

I would like to see MPTV come up with a less obnoxious BUG for the corner of the screen, or not one at all, or only have it there for short intervals.  It's like, your near Milwaukee and your receiving PBS programming.  WHERE else is it comming from?!!!!  Duhhh...

Try dropping them a line, they are good people I used to work with them back in the day. They are always looking for input on these new technologies. What works what does not.

I would give you some contact e-mails and names but I have a feeling many people have changed positions and moved on to other places. Ellis Bromberg is the Gm over there and really knows what's going on. Drop him a letter or an E-mail if you can find his address.

I e-mailed MPTS several months ago on this subject, and got no response.  So, I gave up, but I sure watch CH 10 a lot less than I used to.

I have even tried contacting the PBS network about Frontline.  I don't understand why PBS-HD will run widescreen Nova and Nature episodes over and over, but ignore Frontline widescreen like the plague.

I love PBS, but I can't understand some of their decision making.

Just pledge a few million dollars at the next channel 10 auction. They will gladly listen.  :)
