No audio on 36-1

I've been having an issue with channel 36-1 for two days now.  Everything was fine before, but now the picture is perfect, except with absolutely no sound.  The signal strength is really high, too - always above 90%.  I tried simply turning the tuner off and on again, which did nothing.  I also tried moving the antenna around and rescanning, but still have no audio.  Even though audio was fine on all other channels, I tried using an optical cable instead of the digital coax, but got the same results: Sound on every channel but 36-1.

I've had the tuner for less than a week, so I'm hardly an expert.  Am I missing something stupidly obvious?  I'd hate to go without sound on 36 forever, since that was my favorite HDTV channel.  Everything always looks so amazing on that channel.

Thanks.

You don't say what tuner you have...but the one thing you should always try is unplugging the unit (it's always powered and won't reset otherwise) for a few minutes and then rebooting it.  Give it a shot.

I had no audio last night too.  I was also surprised to see a 4:3 picture with built in black sidebars to make it 16:9  I think something must be wrong on their end.  Maybe they are finally trying to get the Dolby Digital 5.1 equipment working for us?  That's probably wishful thinking.....

There may be a menu setting which defines what goes out of the digital ports.
Our Samsung SIR-T150's don't send anything out unless the audio setup is set to AC-3.

The tuner is a Zenith HDV420.

I'll give unplugging it a shot.  That was my last resort, as the plug has a few hundred pounds of entertainment center and electronics in front of it.  I may have to do something about that.

Thanks.  I'll report back if it works or doesn't.

Oh good.  I was sadistically hoping that no one had audio.

That would be great if they got DD5.1 up and running.  I've been really impressed with 36 so far.  They seem to have more HD programming than any other channel and it always looks great.

I had no audio on it last night as well.

It had to be a problem at WMVS because I also had audio drop outs and no audio.  I immediately switched to the direct PBS-HD feed off the satellite on AMC 3 and there was absolutely no problems with the satellite feeds audio.  I switched back and forth a couple of times, and concluded that it was a local problem. :OnAir:

Yeah, everything seems to be fine for me now.  Presumably for everyone.  Thanks everyone.
