Will this be in HD today?
Anyone know?

Thanks!

of it being in HD in Milwaukee.  It is available in HD, but CBS58 will not provide HD for the NCAA tournament.

It is available in HD format everywhere else in the nation - just not in Milwaukee.  You may want to consider heading to Chicago - or anywhere else that the local CBS channel is willing to provide HD telecasts.

The decision not to provide NCAA games in HD was made solely by our local CBS affiliate.  Feel free to express your frustration with CBS58.  They need to know that the HD market matters and people care that they are not providing us with the drug we need - HD TV   :)

Not on in Chicago, Illinois playing at the same time.  It is on on the CBS HD E feed on E* right now, in HD.  Watched the beginning, now going to watch the Illini smoke Nevada.  BTW, UWM down 11-0.

Since all Sweet 16 games are in HD, I would hope Ch 58 shows them in HD next week.  It definitely will be in HD in Chicago.  It would be great for you folks to see their last game of the year in HD! :D

Seriously, UWM has had a great run.

I live in Howards Grove about half way between Milwaukee and Green Bay with excellent signals from both markets.  I watched the UWM victory in HD on ch. 5, WFRV in Green Bay.  The school and fans in Milwaukee get it in 4/3 what a rip.

58 is a second class station at best they will not do anything to benefit it's viewers unless ordered to do so by CBS itself... and given CBS's lack of supervision over the affiliates we should be glad that NCAA is even shown on this useless station.

Does anyone have any contact information for CBS 58??  Now that UWM has made it to the Sweet 16, it's going to be even more enraging if we can't get it in HiDef.

Mags

but it's too late.. we missed a lot of great HD action in the 1st 4 days do to CBS's stupidity...

It will bite them in the *** someday, when they realize that HD consumers have exactly the target demographic wanted by their advertisers.

I have made a committment to not watch any prime time shows - or anything else for that matter - on CBS for now on.  Of course, this is an easy promise to make, as the NCAA tournament is the only programming they have all year that has any value to me (and probably a lot of other people)

I got some news about why we're stuck with multicasting.  I guess the power that be decided there isn't enough of HD folks and makes more sense to provide more of games to all the cable connected analog/"digital" users.. They're also obligated by contract with TWC to provide them with games in effect they're stuck broadcasting it this way because you can't do both.

Joseph S

and that the powers that be at TWC still haven't hooked up thier fiber feed after some 3 years which is why the multicast looked like garbage OTA and via cable.

That's because TWC hasn't hooked up their fiber and they and satellite companies get
the WMLW channel and all CBS digital they broadcast via OTA just like us.

There isn't enough bandwidth OTA to multicast live sports as we have seen. Be sure to call TWC as well and let them know what they sponsored was garbage and we paying customers deserve what DirecTV users got, Full HD res, Full SD res, and all games without the limits of 19Mbps OTA! This can't be done if TWC doesn't hook up the fiber feed.

Mags

Remember - we had to pay $59...

And 1/2 the games scheduled to be in HD were blacked out due to our local CBS 58 carrying it in HD - well at least the local was supposed to - but the HD feed on D* was blacked out even if the local CBS was only doing SD...

So it sucked either way - all the fault of our local CBS.  Please let them know how happy we were with the coverage.

So, TWC first refused for years to put WMLV into their system. Now they put it in a digital tier and demand from CBS58 to multicast all games in SD?
If this is true, then TWC sucks BIG, BIG time.
CBS58 SHOULD BROADCAST IN HD UPCOMING PANTERS AND BADGERS GAMES!
THEY SHOULD, SHOULD, SHOULD, SHOULD, SHOULD DO IT! :bang:

Mags

I agree - I'll take it one step further - if the game they decided to show was being broadcast in the network in HD, then they should have shown it in HD.

Otherwise, they should have only chosen SD games to show if they were not willing to provide HD.  Then the rest of us would at least had access to the HD broadcast via Directv.

The way they did it, they screwed everyone.

GBK

regardless who's fault it is we're stuck with what we got.  I'm sure that if it's possible for us to get HD for those games they'll do it but as you all know when there is too many hands in the pie things just don't turn out as they are intended.  Best case scenario from this might be a next year NCAA or other events will be thought out differently and all parties could be kept happy.
