Pace Micro Technology, a leading digital set-top box provider specializing in the development of emerging technologies across all television platforms, today announced the launch of its Tahoe High Definition (HD) Digital Video Recorder (DVR) set-top box solution.

Pace Americas' President Michael Pulli said, "Our Tahoe HD DVR set-top box is hands down the best in its class. We took the time to review existing DVR set-top boxes and improved upon them in almost every way. Tahoe has the best picture, largest hard drive , greatest connectivity - including SATA for connecting external hard drives -  most flexible dual decoding for HD programming, most innovative styling, in the industry today."

The Tahoe HD DVR set-top box features include:
--  Dual tuners for two-channel recording

--  Expandable 160 GB next generation internal hard drive

--  Dual HD decoding for HD picture-in-picture

--  Home media server DVR functionality

   --  DOCSIS v2.0 Cable Modem/DSG capability

--  New silicon technology for optimized analog picture quality

--  Extensive connectivity and memory options

Pulli added, "Since we're in a unique position as the only set-top box provider with licenses and technology to deploy boxes on all types of cable T.V. networks, the Tahoe HD DVR is built with a common platform designed to operate on North American cable networks. This underscores a major part of our long-term strategy for the North American market, which is to develop set-top box solutions with a common platform that can easily be deployed on any network."

The Tahoe HD DVR set-top box solution will be on display at the upcoming National Cable & Telecommunications Association's (NCTA) upcoming National Show in San Francisco, April 3-5, in booth #5958.

With a product like this, can I store all of my music CDs on the hard drive too, or even an external SATA drive?  That would be nice.  You figure at some point they will come up with an "all in one" media solution for our living rooms.  It just seems to take a long time.
