(This could cover HD or non-HD recorders, and is about programming, so I figured this is the correct section.)

I just thought it might be fun to post your series recording lists (or season passes, whatever you want to call it). Maybe someone will see someone else's list, and have some reccommendations for other shows... who knows! Thought this would be an interesting idea.

I know my list is pretty big, but most of these are set for first run episodes only.

Our list is much shorter...

Sopranos
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Six Feet Under
Huff
Lost
Survivor
American Idol
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
Austin City Limits
Sound Stage
CSI (Just the original)
American Dreams
Penn & Teller: Bulls...!

We also record the TMJ4 10 O'Clock news (so we can watch it whatever time we're done with whatvere else we're timeshifting. watching and pausing)

Also record Leno, but only because we watch Letterman live. Then the next night, we fast forward through Leno looking for stuff like Headlines, Jaywalking or a guest starlet with a great set of gams. ;)

Cool! As far as Leno goes, I only watch it if he's got a guest that really interests me... I try to catch Conan as often as I can. Six Feet Under & Curb Your Enthusiasm... that's another couple shows I need to add to my list. Since I just got the new DVR, there's some shows that aren't on right now, so I'm keeping a list of shows to search for every week and add them to the series list as they show up in the guide. I'll add these to my 'official' list here.

I'm planning on catching Lost in reruns, I'm too far behind to start watching it now.  :)

Isn't HUFF great? The ratings for Showtime shows seem to be such a mystery, but I'm guessing it's pretty successful, having won a few awards. I was a bit worried it would get prematurely canceled, but it doesn't look like that will happen. I'm just paranoid. I might decide to start watching The L Word when it goes into reruns... but if it's the same caliber as their other similarily-themed show, I'm not too interested.

The only non-HD shows on my list are Survivor and Simpsons. Otherwise, I don't bother.

Mark - how do you possibly have time to watch all of those shows, play with your X-Box and your Game Cube, and go to work?

Well at the moment I'm kinda out of my Xbox/GameCube phase, I don't play them very often.

Also, I don't always catch all the shows on my list. The Daily Show, Leno, Conan, and The Screen Savers are set to erase episodes as needed, so I don't always watch those. Sometimes it only gets a couple shows a day, because most of those are set for new episodes only... so it's really not as much as it seems.

Now what's this work thing you speak of?

I was hoping to do that with 24...

Might be too late for Lost... they've been sprinkling the re-runs in already... about 4 weeks into the series, they re-ran all the previous episodes. Then went back to new (or in WB-eze, FRESH) episodes for a few weeks, then had re-runs. Now it's been new episodes for a few weeks, but next Wednesday is a repeat...

Last night we wached the recorded version of Survivor in only 33 minutes... skipping the previous episode review, commercials and credits.  If my math is right, this is a real-time viewing compression ratio better than 1.8:1.
Man, this Tivo/DVR stuff is great.  I can't believe everyone doesn't want to have something like this in the house.

They do. They just don't want to be limited to 160GB, 250GB, or any set restricted limits. :D

I'm running 3TB and it seems like I always need more  :(

Joseph S

With the Sox World Series and Pats Superbowl X 2 (HDTV) drives. I'm well past 3TBs at this point. I wasn't going to go without backups of those.

Here's my list:

HDTV:
CSI: Vegas
Without a Trace
Alias
Lost
Boston Legal
Desperate Housewives
The OC
Arrested Development
Las Vegas
Medium (for now)
Sopranos (Only when in season)
HDTV Sports (Real sports only, no auto or golf ball driving. ;) )

SDTV
Monk
Survivor
Amazing Race

I'll pick up anything I'm interested in on DVD. It will likely be years down the road for some stuff in the library as I'm way too far behind in some series to pick up in mid stream. Stuff at the top of the to watch list are Smallville, Deadwood, Dead Like Me, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, and The Wire.
