Anybody having audio issues with Vegas tonight OTA?  I get all the background music, but no voice audio.

kevbeck122

Yep, I was just gonna post about it.

Seems to be working now for me.

Now we know that they have two switches to flip.  The HD/SD video switch and the DD 5.1 switch.  I saw that the audio problem happened when the DD 5.1 was accidentally turned off during the show.  Hopefully some day all of this will be automated for every station.

I recorded it and was planning to watch it tonight.

How long is it missing dialog for?

The first minute was OK from what I remember and then you just get background noises for the next maybe 20 minutes or so.

Damn. Do they put closed caption in transport streams??

Yes they do.  I DVR'd it and I was able to turn the closed captioning on to follow the plot.

I wish I would have thought of that.

Since "24" on FOX is on at the same time as "Vegas" on NBC, I record both but since I am not sure if the bug of recording two HD programmes at the same time works smoothly (yet) I recorded "Vegas" on digitally-delivered analogue NBC (through the DVR box) instead and it worked fine.
Plot line was pretty good for "Vegas" with two story lines running at the same time.
If ever this occurs on a HD NBC show, I very well try to do the closed captioning route, too.
Now "Medium" which follows "Vegas" recorded perfectly in DD5.1 and HD right after that...looks like NBC has still got to get its act together for all its shows in HD!

It helped with the closed captioning. I just wish I could move the close captioning to an area of the screen that didn't cover up so much of the actresses... um...

FWIW, I recorded Vegas in HD on my LG 3410 out of NBC 15 in Madison and it's audio was just fine...no dropouts or anything so I don't think it was an NBC problem but a TMJ problem. I too like to watch 24 and Vegas and record both but 24 gets analog recording and Vegas gets the HD recording...the eye candy on that show is stellar...

I remembered I recorded Deadwood and Desparate Housewives - both HD -  on Sunday and both came out good...so I will update my favourites and see what happens next Monday...thanks. :)
