19. The list follows. The one note to the list is that this does not include stations which are currently not on the air either with or without CP Extensions. This means it is possible there are stations outside of the Top 30 and this list which Sinclair just hasn't filed for yet. Here are the stations which Sinclair is working to get extensions until 5/1/2003 for:

29 - Raleigh, NC
 WLFL
 WRDC
30 - Nashvilee, TN
 WUXP
33 - Milwaukee, WI
 WCGV
 WVTV
34 - Columbus, OH
 WSYX
36 - Asheville, NC
 WLOS
37 - San Antonio, TX
 KABB
39 - Birmingham, AL
 WABM
 WTTO
51 - Las Vegas, NV
 KVWB
 KFBT
58 - Richmond, VA
 WRLH
63 - Mobile, AL
 WEAR
82 - Springfield, IL
 WICD
85 - Madison, WI
 WMSN
105 - Springfield, MA

Rumors have Sinclair's Madison Fox 47 coming on line on November 1st.

Physical channel 11.  I haven't heard what virtual channel they will identify it as yet.

Rumors may say that, but fact is that they've filed for a CP extension through 5/1/2003.

I hope they get WMSN47/11 up and running. I've given up all hope that Faux 6 will get that damn antenna up on their regular tower and run with enough power to get out to Hartland. And it looks like even if they do they won't have the equipment to broadcast Fox's Digital (TM , R) Widescreen (TM, R) semi HDTV. So no Packer game in widescreen. Maybe Sinclair's Flagship HD channel 11 will actually buy the equipment to show it. Oh look!, there's some pigs flying outside my window! Back soon....

Isn't this an oxymoron?

I read the posts and this weekend may send letter to FCC. But is that the correct approach to get anything done? The TV stations seem confident that FCC as usual will grant their every wish. Does anyone know if any Wisconsin senators or congressmen are on any relevant committees. Even if not, might complaining to people who want votes be more effective?

albans:

The only response I can think of to the direct question you pose is this:

If we do nothing then we will certainly get no response and we should not complain afterwards either if things don't go as we like.  We certainly have the tools at our finger tips (keyboard) to express our opinion.  There is no lock on the results, however.  We simply need to try.  Share your opinion with whomever you believe is/are the right person(s).

I just don't want to see us with NTSC for the next 50 years.  Good writing.

Billy Tauzin (D-LA) chairs the commitee that is overseeing the transition to Digital. That commitee is actaully a commerce and energy commisssion with Tom Barrett on it. There is a subcommittee that deals with communication, but has no Wisconsin representation.

Well, the bad news is that 9 more stations have filed for CP Extensions.

The good news is that the FCC hasn't granted anything, including applications that were submitted back in August. It really seems like the FCC is thinking about what to do. Who knows what the outcome will be.
