How embarassing!  Just a few years ago, Milwaukee residents wore their ability be un-phased by a foot of snow as a badge of honor.

So we get a couple inches overnight, and what are we treated to this morning? Wall-to-wall hysteria. Closings!!! Freeway Delays!!!!! Accidents!!!!!! Airport delays!!!!!!!!  It's the blizzard of the century!!!!!

So what do we actually have?

Closings? 1
Travel times? DOT reports absolutely No Delays.. anywhere!
Mitchell Reports nearly 100% on time both arrivals and departures
All channel 4 had was footage of a single minor overnight fender-bender...
The on the scene reporters are standing next to wet streets...

C'mon you wienies!!!! We live in Wis-friggin-consin!  I wonder if they realize just how ridiculous they look!  :Shoot:

Thank you. Glad to see I'm not alone in feeling the exact same way.
As long as FOX 6 doesn't screw with the Daytona 500, who cares. But if they do there'll be hell to pay. :guns:

The Sky is Falling!!! The Sky is Falling!!! :bang:  :bang:

Glad to see others feeling the same way,

I thought this was Wisc. in February.

HEY FOX SIX,

WE KNOW IT'S SNOWING LIKE IT NEVER HAS BEFORE.  JUST DON'T REMIND US DURING THE RACE.

Sorry for yelling, it's a long way to Brown Deer from here. ;)

   Don't worry, eventually they will go back to the regular coverage of all the bad news around the world and locally.  Shootings here, shootings there..... yep people are dying everywhere.

I hear it's raining in Chicago. :p Another benefit of not listening to Milwaukee radio or watching local newscasts outside of the occasional 1250/1510 sports. If there's a tornado not occuring during Alias/CSI/WAT/Lost/DH/Boston Legal I'm a goner.Even if there is I'd prefer the HD and get swept away if need be. ;)

The on/off ramps are crap for 94/45 as usual. Sand/Salt and plows apparently cost too much and require planning to get the job done. Nothing new, if the snow hasn't been sitting for 4 hours after 5PM or on the weekends it isn't due to be plowed around here for another 12 hours. :td:

It's all a conspiracy....they want us to think that we all need SUV's....then we can spend more money on gas.  To the government, its a win-win situation...I love snow

When Mike Drew was the JournalSentinel's TV critic, he used to razz the hell out of the weather prophets for predicting ten out of the next two storms, for over-dramatizing, for exhibiting a degree of forecasting precision not borne out by reality, etc.

Like all of you, I was astounded by, for example, WTMJ cancelling all of Sunday morning's schedule except for Meet The Press, so they could (over) dramatize the snowfall.  What was the big deal, anyway?

I also am tired of all the "photo ops" done by the local news people -- such as planting a reporter outside, where it is snowing, putting one outside a hospital where a shooting victim has been taken, etc.  It is as if a news/weather story is no good on its own; it needs a (really useless) "local color" photo shoot to go with it.  Just give us the meterologist, tell us what's happeng, and get done with it.

I guess the question becomes, how would you fill the time devoted to each newscast?  18 minutes of sports, 1 minute each for "news" and weather, and the rest commercials?  I know that would please some people and make other people grab the remote.  It's a delicate balancing act I suppose.  I like Fox's contact 6 stories the best.  That's my favorite part of the "news".

I'm tired of these girls acting like anything less than a foot is news here. Maybe the 6 years of mild winters have made some weak.

We need more news casters of my age bracket that remember the 26 inches of snow we got in Germantown and Richfield in a 24 hour period back in April of 73. :)

But we all DO need SUV's

Don't we :D

dj1111

No we don't need SUV's.

No we don't need bottled water at an average of $9 per gallon for something someone pumped out of the ground for pennys.

No we don't need cell phones with 1000 minutes per month.  So much quality HDTV viewing lost forever.

Oh, sorry I'm going off topic.

It's amazing how affective good marketing can be.
