WTMJ-DT really screwed up MEDIUM tonight.
Commercials and program started, froze , dropped out, restarted.
It got so bad I turned the HD off.
Operator error?

Our master control operator didn't mention any problem with "Medium" and didn't put it in his operations report. Did everyone else see the same problems with "Medium"?

By the way, there was a nationwide problem at NBC with the entire first segment of "Vegas" being SD. They told us they would "engage" the HD for the second segment.

How far in did this start? I time shifted it and didn't see a problem on a quck scan. Haven't watched it yet, didn't plan to until this weekend.

It appears the Las Vegas thing was one of the usual network execs are complete morons and show no concern for the viewers screwup. Instead of having HD after Fear Factor, they decided we all wanted a nice smooth SD ending of Fear Factor into the linked Las Vegas show. I don't think there is a single viewer in the country that would agree with this.

It started near the beginning of the program.
A commercial started - Seemed to freeze- then another commercial started - again it froze - then another comercial started.
None of the commercials finished. They only went for 10 to 15 seconds or so.
About half way through they stopped, and then another one started.
They were all different commercials. They never completed before switching to another.
After about 3 or 4 (half commercials) the station signal stopped and then restarted.
Really annoying to watch.
When the commercials froze there was a sound almost like a old 33rpm record skipping a track and repeating. Then sort of a raspy pulsing sound.
This was only on HD. The SD signal was constantly good.

If it hadn't been for the commercials skipping around I might have thought it was something on my end.
The fact that several commercials never completed and changed from one to another, sort of  implies a problem with the feed or a control problem.

Watched Medium as recording had already started and found no problems and then finished it off as it ended, catching up to the show in real time with a couple of pixelations because I had TWC 506 on the other tuner (from watching "24"). :D

Could it possibly be your receiver?  While watching the Daytona race Sunday, my picture through the E* 811 receiver started jumping forward about 3, or 4 times a second.  I checked the analog and it was fine.  Then I checked my Samsung SIR-T51, and it also was stable.  I turned the 811 off, then back on, problem solved!

I watched it live last night in HD with no problems on this end with my HD TiVo.

O.K.
Thanks for the replies.
I'll have to keep a watch and see if I have the problem again.
It only was happening on one channel and with the commercials not completing it looked like something outside my tuner.
Maybe some glitch in the programming at my location?
Weird.

No problem!  Once again the feeback from this group easily boiled this 'Medium' problem down to a 'small'  one...
