TWC Audio levels analog vs digital

I've lived with this for a while but since I found this org thought someone here might know the answer and /or provide a solution.  My TWC cable box (now a Pio 3510HD) has different audio levels for the analog channels (below 100) and the digital channels (above 100), so much so that I have to grab the remote and adjust the TV volume control when I'm surfing.  The digital channels have much higher volume. My old SA box was the same. Haven't talked to TWC.

Anyone else have this problem?  Is there a fix for it?

I have the same exact problem with my audio form TWC. :Smash:

I posted the same thing before. Still have the issue and have for as long as I've had TWC. Currently on a SA3250HD w/ FW.

Since the signals are digital from the programmer to your home, there is no way to change audio levels on digital channels.  Analog levels are set to industry standards and really can't be played with.  The set top may have some impact on differences between analog and digital, but most of the problems are at the digital uplinks.
I'm curious about how the levels sound between channel 3 and 10?

Between 3 and 10, channel 4 sounds slightly louder on my digital settop.  Picture quality looks outstanding on channels 4, 5, 6.  Looks like something has changed recently with those channels.

As Mhz40 mentioned, there is no volume control for the digital channels, but the STB does have a volume control for the analog channels. Many times people have those set to less than 100% making a large volume difference between digital and analog.

Make sure your analog is set to 100% volume on the STB and there will be very little if any difference between analog and digital volume.

If only this actually worked. Last time I asked for a 250% option. That's about what it would take.

Those channels just recently went digital - I made a post in the non-hdtv forum.

Not sure what your issue may be, but my analog and digital channels are exactly the same volume. If I drop the STB output down from 100%, then the analog volume is lower, but at 100% it is perfect.

Went to the "settings" in my Pioneer 3510HD box and played around with volume levels.  Tried 100 per cent and lots of other too.  Sorry to report that "both" analog and digital SD channels were equally affected.  A substantial difference still exists between the analog and digital channels here... at any setting.

Does anyone with TWC from more than two or three years ago remember when the opposite was true?  That is, analog channels were louder.  I seem to remember this but it was a while ago.

George, are you using the stereo analog audio output (red and white cables), or a digital coaxial cable?

George99

Mark,  I'm using the RCA cables, analog Red and White.  Haven't tried digital coax yet.  What are you using?  Do you see a difference?

Joseph S

I've had the issue with both styles of boxes for 3+ years. Neither those older models that required analog audio output for analog stations nor those that convert analog to digital for spdif out are able to produce analog station audio anywhere near the levels heard from the digital stations.

Could be the issue. I am using the digital out and as said before the analog and digital are exactly the same when the STB is set to 100% output.
