BellSouth Grows DirecTV Subs to 200K

BellSouth reported Tuesday that as of Dec. 31, the end of the fourth quarter, more than 200,000 of its customers have added DirecTV to their communications packages.

That number is up from the 90,000 DirecTV customers the company reported as of Sept. 30, the end of the third quarter. The BellSouth offer provides a triple-play package of voice, data and entertainment services, with the video portion coming from the satellite TV company.

BellSouth also said it added a record 224,000 net DSL customers during the quarter and ended the year with 2.1 million customers for its DSL service. The company said the DSL additions were driven in part by its long-term strategic move to offer additional incentives and new pricing for FastAcces DSL.
