Question for the "frugal" TWC HD locals subs

After having played the obligatory round of CSR roulette with TWC, it's time to ask the real experts:

1) Can anyone tell me if the HD locals on TWC are in the clear or scrambled? QAM tuner being considered here.

2) What's the current minimum programming required to get a TWC HD box? Only interested in HD locals, not the HD package or DVR.

TIA,

Dave
I kinda thought that might happen ...

I have access to a television with a QAM tuner and the HD local signals come through without a CableCard or settop.

TWC CSRs can be a poorly-trained bunch at times, just like my experiences with Directv CSRs were, hence why my household has cable-only, now, among other reasons. :p

If you had a TWC billing from your local area* you could look on the back actual bill for the basic package pricing as it is listed there.
Basic service includes cable channels 2-25 plus 504-505-506-510-512 HD locals if you rent the HD box (not DVR, but the same price but without DVR service pricing) unless the QAM exists in your HDTV and works for you.

*The reason I mention this is that every community has its own pricing for these very basic of local cable packages, some around $10 while others around $12 monthly besides the $7.95 monthly for the HD cable box converter if you don't have QAM decoding in your HDTV set :D

Hope this helps you out...otherwise ask one of our forum TWC members who lives in your area to look at their basic bill fee on the back of their billing as you may do well with an HDTV with built in QAM and the most basic of service to get HD locals. :)
