Yes, I have the 60" Sony Grand WEGA and it is the best TV I have ever owned.

Quote from: picopir8When you turn your contrast up you are telling your monitor/tv/etc to increase the step size between color shades.  Consequently when its turned up real high, the picture is degraded.  On the other hand, set that have high contrast ratios, have a finer granularity in between steps.  Therefore there is a smother transition between shades.  Having  a set with a higher contrast ratio is actually easier on the eyes.
IMO, higher contrast does not equal better shading between steps.  A flashlight has high contrast (on & off), but can't do any shade of gray...
In the digital world, it's the bit depth that creates the various shades of color/gray.... Flashlights have 1 bit & it's either on or off.  Many HD sets have 8 bit processing, a few others may have 10.  Samsung HLN models have 8 bit processing and look decent enough for me.

I ended up getting a Sony 55XS955 (Sony 55 inch model) two days before Chirstmas from CircuitCity...
Get a amazing steal of a price $3300 after taxes with the 4 year extended warranty. $2570 for the TV...   P.S. TV was new, not a open box item.

Anyways... The great thing about the Sony LCD's I think they all come with built in HDTV tuners... That should be taken into consideration...

I love the picture on it...

Only their newest models now do. Although this is becoming true of almost all new HDTV's these days.
