A while back, I said I'd post my rooftop antennas, so here goes.

They are on the second story of my house, above the garage.

Here's the house, for reference:

Hi Todd Setup looks good.  Question though.  I was going to reciprocate with some pics of my own but didn't know how to insert them into this message.  If you wouldn't mind, could you explain how?  I havn't done it before.

Thanks:)

Thanks !

I have the pictures stored on my personal space at Earthlink.

So, first, get 'em uploaded somewhere you can access them publicly.

Then, test the link. In your browser, type where the files are located. In my case it's http:\\home.earthlink.net\~acadnut\Reception.jpg

Once that link works, encase it in image tags, like this with no spaces:

Hope that helps !

Thanks I'll give that a try while I still have SBC yet.

Well here goes...

First pic is my FTA dish,  looks to be the same as yours.  Second pick is my Winegard on my tower at about 30 to 35 feet.  No the dish on the side isn't D*TV.  I just got setup with a broadband wireless ISP and soon will be dropping SBC dial.

Darn it, still didn't work the way you did it.

(From Todd: There you go. :D )

Another way is to goto ImageShack

You can upload images from your computer and then copy the link to the forum.
The images will stay at Imageshack and you can use the links several times on different forums, if you want.

Why did I always imagine FTA dishes as giant objects?  Where are the motors and stuff for searching the sky for signals?  You would think with all of that FTA discussion from the past I wouldn't be surprised to see these pictures.  It appears as though adding FTA doesn't make you look like a freak to your neighbors.  That's good news.

Thanks for the pics.

How much is the wireless broadband?  I didn't even know that service was available.....  Man am I behind the times!  This group helps to keep me up on things.  For that I am thankful.

Some Are.  What Todd and I have is the Ku-band setups which do not require as large of a dish.  C-band however requires dish sizes in the range of 6 feet at minimum on up and those are refered to as BUDS Big Usefull Dishes.

I got in on a special they were running.  I had to buy the equipment though, but I locked in a lifetime rate of $19.95 per month.  Normally would be $39.95 if I did not purchase the equipment.

You would have to do some searching around to find a provider near you.  This is pretty much line of site transmissions to the towers.  Right now I am right on the edge of their service to the East.  I have Netwurx Wireless out of Hartford.:)

Thanks for the information Tazman.

And I always thought that BUD stood for Big Ugly Dish......;)

Here are mine. Got a Radio Shack UHF  pointed due north, and the smaller double bow tie pointed due east (thanks FOX).

What sort of life is there on the other planets?  :p
