The bulls game tonight was adverstised in HD, but it was not shown in HD on TWC, anyone know why?

Sparkman87

I would bet that TWC doesn't have WGN-HD in its HD package.  It was on here, both OTA & Comcast.

The ability for TWC customers getting WGN in HD is probably impossible as it is a Chicago station and I believe the FCC does not allow HD stations to appear on out-of-DMA areas like Milwaukeeland. But some reason, unknown to me, Kenosha has the ablilty to get the analogue CBS, NBC, PBS, FOX, ABC and WGN all to itself, probably some grandfathered-in clause of some kind.
But HD out-of-state? Heck no.:(

If we Kenoshans got WGN-HD on cable, I could care less if Sinclair Broadcast Group aka WB18 HD ever got on TWC cable for shows like Smallville and the like in HD!:)

Kenosha is part of the Chicago CMSA, which usually means that it is part of the broadcast reception and programming area for Chicago Stations.  The nation is broken up into CMSA's (Combined Metropolitan Statistical Areas) and yes both Kenosha and Rock counties are part of the Chicago CMSA.  I learned this years ago when I was licensing dispatch radio systems on 800MHz, as there were no channels available for Kenosha and Rock counties as the Chicago operators had used them all.

RF knows no boundaries, you can't set an arbitrary line for OTA but you can for cable and satellite customers.

If you are in Kenosha, you may want to buy an OTA box and antenna and aim to Chicago.  Other than CBS 2, you should get most of the chanels.

Here is a link to Ebay for OTA HDTV boxes.  SHould be able to get some pretty good deals here.

Will do, will one in the attic or next to the TV suffice or do I need a roof one.  Also do you have some suggestions on what good ones are?

Sparkman87

I have one on the roof, with a rotor.  I'm on north side of Waukegan, pretty much Wadsworth, and when I turn the rotor, I get Milwaukee analog no problem, and some Milwaukee DT.

Got mine from Digital Direct in Antioch.  Give them a call, ask for Bob, he should have some good ideas.  He may even have a cheap OTA digital box.

FiberOptic

Thanks for the referral, I talked to him and he gave me a price, not sure if I want to spend $200 bucks.

Is tat for just the antenna or for an OTA box and antenna?  If it is both, that's a pretty good price, especially if it's installed.
