Electronics Show (CES) that the company's MediaREADY(TM) 5000 Advanced Digital
Media Center has been nominated for the 2005 "Best of CES" Award. The prize,
sponsored by G4techTV, recognizes the top consumer electronics products of
2005.

 
VWB's MediaREADY 5000 is a breakthrough device that simply and easily connects people to all their home entertainment and Internet options, all in a single device. The set-top unit, about the size of a typical DVD player, combines a suite of popular TV-centric applications with an easy-to-use electronic program guide and the ability to record broadcast media on either the internal hard drive, built-in DVD recorder, or other hard drive connected via a home network. The unit also offers On-demand content, email, Internet browsing, games and MP3/CD/DVD/MPEG-1/MPEG-2/MPEG-4 playback on any connected television.

At $699 suggested retail, the MediaREADY 5000 is priced significantly below competing products. The unit is now available for distributors, retailers, and licensees at 2005 CES.

Shows can be easily burned to a DVD, stored in the on-board hard drive or other remote storage device in the home network; what's more, music, photos, movies, recorded shows and other audio/visual files from virtually anywhere, either the Internet or home network, can be played over a living room TV or home theater.

VWB's MediaREADY 5000 PVR+RW was nominated in the Whole House Entertainment category, honoring products that "manage, distribute, and aggregate all your home digital media," including media servers and receivers. The judging criteria include three criteria: "wow factor"; usability and usefulness; and value. Only products that have not yet hit the market or are just starting to ship are considered for the Best of CES award.
