Sorry, I already have several fireplaces and wood burning stoves already in line for it.  Plus a local wood carver is going to take the "pretty pieces" to make art with.

Quote from: BebopCall this Time Warner number (414-687-9387) and ask for Dave. Then ask about a special offer to get RR.

You have to call them back after 6 months to get the $34 rate. Why, I don't know.

Actually you can order it from BestBuy's website under "Services Store".

Quote from: Doug MohrThey weren't capped until '97 or '98. Uncapped to capped is a reduction.

Tried that. They don't fix "doesn't work as well as it used to" problems

I was a beta tester for TW's cable modem back in '94-95. I know how the configs work and how the architecture works. As a network architect, I also understand how the infrastructure works. On diagrams, there is no distance related factors affecting speed, but in the physical world with packet collisions, trunk saturation, and daily equipment malfunctions, distance is an issue.

I hope this doesn't sound offensive to anyone, I just haven't had my coffee yet. I can be a grump in the morning. I'm going to go have my coffee now :D

I beta tested too... my speeds are the same as they ever were. During the entire time with RR, I went from being a single modem on an upstream path to one of 250. Although I did not test daily or weekly, my occasional test speeds never changed.
I can't discuss specifics, but bandwidths on all pipes across the entire network are logged on an hourly, daily, weekly and monthly basis. Trust me, none are saturated.
Try this link and see what your results are...
If you would like to Doug, PM me the MAC address of your cable modem and I will look into the specific performance characteristics of your link.

I didn't get the speed till I unplugged my SB4100, and released and renewed my IP address.

Try and see if that works.....

I am getting today with cable Earthlink

Communications 4.5 megabits per second
Storage 550 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 1.9 seconds

with http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

I am switching to TWC RR for their 34.95/month one year deal.
Hope will keep the speed. It is very noticable improvement.

He called me, I didn't call him.

If that's what it takes to save $100 after 6 months. :)

According to the RR speed test, I'm at 4.26 MBps...

I would consider switching to the RR promotional deal from Earthlink, but I don't want to go through the e-mail change again...

I never used any of the email address of my providers. I always have an outside account, so when i do switch, my email addresses stay the same

Whoohoo! Earthlink here.

After I unplugged the power cord to my cable modem and plugged it back in, I'm am now faster.  4.6 is my new speed.  Honestly I thought I was fast enough before, but I won't complain about a free upgrade.

Do you have a link to this test?
I still haven't seen a boost in speed. I'm only going 1.7 tops!    :bang:  :bang:
