The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis ruled on a matter involving the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and Charter and a subpoena involving some of the cable operator's customers. Charter said with the ruling the Court of Appeals concurred with its belief that no statutory basis exists for the issuance of subpoenas requiring the disclosure of customer information to the RIAA by Charter. "Charter takes its responsibility to protect the private information of our customers very seriously. Our customers place their trust in Charter, so we took all appropriate legal measures in this matter to fulfill this responsibility," said Charter spokesperson David Andersen.

Charter Internet Goes Wireless - Charter formed a relationship with RemotePipes to enable high-speed Internet customers to have both dial-up and wireless Internet access while traveling. Using RemotePipes' IP Roamer wireless fidelity service, residential and commercial customers of Charter's broadband service will have national and international remote access to the Internet and corporate networks, the cable operator said.

Another BCFM Confab - BCFM's Broadcast Cable Credit Association subsidiary is hosting the second half of its "Essential Collection Tools and Techniques" teleconference seminar for individuals at television, radio and cable companies who are responsible for collection calls to a station's or system's agencies and advertisers. The teleconference seminar will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. Eastern. For more information visit http://www.bccacredit.com or call 847-716-7000.
