DIRECTV yesterday added a High-Definition TV feed of ABC in 10 markets in which the network owns and operates the local station. The move will permit DIRECTV subscribers in those 10 cities to watch
Tuesday night's college football championship game between Oklahoma and USC in
high-def.

The satellite TV service now offers high-def feeds of all four major broadcast networks in selected cities. Earlier this year, DIRECTV added HDTV feeds of CBS, NBC and Fox in markets in which the local affiliate is owned by the parent network.

The network high-def feeds are transmitted from station affiliates in New York and Los Angeles. DIRECTV subscribers on the East Coast will see the New York feed while the high-def feed of the Los Angeles affiliate will be seen by subscribers on the West Coast.

The ABC markets where DIRECTV subscribers can watch the network in HDTV are:
Chicago; Flint, Michigan, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, San Francisco and Toledo.

Alas, not in Milwaukee though. Wow, 11 whole markets. This is much better than TNT-HD or ESPN 2-HD or whatever.
