DirecTV scored a deal with the Fox Television Station Group that will allow the satellite TV service to offer Fox high-def programming in 26 designated market areas.

The Fox HD programming, available beginning today from WNYW in New York and KTTV in Los Angeles, will be available to eligible DirecTV customers in markets where Fox owns and operates stations. Those markets include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Dallas-Forth Worth, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Tampa, Fla., Minneapolis, Cleveland, Phoenix, Denver, Orlando, Fla., St. Louis, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Mo., Salt Lake City, Birmingham, Ala., Memphis, Tenn., Greensboro, N.C., Austin, Texas and Gainesville, Fla.

Customers who subscribe to a DirecTV local channel package in the Fox markets will receive Fox HD channels free of charge. Customers in the Pacific and Mountain Time zones will receive KTTV from Los Angeles and those in the Central and Eastern Time zones will receive WNYW from New York.

The Fox owned-and-operated stations reach nearly 45 percent of U.S. television homes, DirecTV said. And those viewers will have something to look forward to when Fox televises upcoming NFL playoff games and the Super Bowl on Feb. 6 in HD format.

Is there a source for this press release? I would like to call D* to receive this signal (currently getting the message for ordering on my screen for channel 88).

Call Directv and tell them you should be receiving it as Fox6 Milwaukee is a Fox O&O station (ps I'm getting it here in Cedarburg).

Someone is in error, call them again as you should receive it as the local WITI Fox6 is a Fox O&O station which means all the Milwaukee viewing area should receive it.

I just spoke with the ever-charismatic Darryl at D*, who basically told me I was an idiot for believing everything I read on some silly website.

He said that there are only 2 Fox regions being broadcast in HD via satellite on D*, NY and LA.  I told him that there are some customers in our market receiving Milwaukee Fox in HD via satellite, to which he responded that I didn't understand and did not know what I was talking about.  He then explained to me how OTA broadcasts have nothing to do with D*, to which I responded that I knew this.  He then said I don't understand how things work.  At that point I politely suggested he bite me (not in those exact words), and Darryl  soon hung up.

I'd love for the undeniable schmuck who calls himself "Darryl" to be wrong, but he is the HD Rep. I was transferred to.  Anyone else get a different response?

This guy is undeniably un-informed.  Just as with CBS and NBC national feeds on D*, anyone in an O&O market should receive the national feed for their area (East Coast or West Coast feed).  It's interesting that many of us, including myself, are receiving this feed with no interaction required, it just came up by itself.  I'd keep calling back and hammer the O&O information until they power you up.

YOu will not receive Milwaukee fox 6 in HD, you will recieve the NY fox HD station. IN October, I had trouble getting D* to turn my channels on when the world series was on. I finally got transfered to the HD department, and the world series came on, and now I get channel 88 (FOX HD from NY)

You must call D* and ask to speak with an HD rep. Tell them that you are elegible for fox national HD feed channel 88. Thats what I did and I got it. There is a non-HD fox feed that you are not elegible for and thats the one they are talking about. They said that I was only elegible for one of the two fox HD feeds, 88 or 89. Whichever one I was closer to is the one that I would get. You must speak with the correct people, not the carneys

I've just spoken to 5 different CSR's and finally the last one was able to help. I now have channel 88 live without an extra fee. I asked her if I was eligable for the feed, she checked and said yes. I asked her why I qualified for the feed, and if it was because our local Fox station is O&O by FOX. She replied "Yes, that's correct." I told her the run-around I was given, and she appologized on behalf of everyone at D*. I wish I remembered her name, but she was in the HD eligability department. I called the ATS (Advanced Tech Support) 1-800-695-9251. I have to say KEEP TRYING!!!  I had to talk to 5 different people to get it, but eventually you will talk to someone that knows what they are doing.
