I could swear that I read somewhere that the RCA was basically Samsung guts wrapped in an RCA box.  I know one thing that was changed was the firmware, hence no more sync issues.  I'm sorry to hear that the new box behaves differently.  I never used a stretch mode to watch 4:3 programming.  First, I couldn't get used to the picture and second, I have a DLP TV and don't have to worry about burn-in.

tothemax, we have the same speakers.

you guys are right everything is almost the same. I just got used to watching my hitachi 57uwx 20b in 4:3 expanded mode where everything in the middle of the screen is normal and the ends are a little stretched. so when I couldn't use that mode while the rca was inputing 1080i it was a big issue with me. I can't get used to watching 4x3 material stretced so everyone looks a little fat. I use the sony 3000 remote so the rca remote really doesn't matter, I guess I will not be watching the new espnhd movie tilt
in hd!!!! to the max I am with you really don't care for rca stuff, if it would had the dame feature the damsung have I would have kept it and murdoc the clock and channel on the samsung is nice.

Yes Murdoc we have the same speakers. I bought just about everything I have from Flanners. I am still pleased with my speakers. I must say I am inpressed with my new RCA box. The sync issues are gone and I love the (RF) remote. "RF" meaning radio frequency. One of my biggest complaints with the Samsung was the remote was very touchy. With the RF remote I can just about be in the garage pointing the remote under my car and it will still change channels on the box. I am happy. RCA still sucks but I like what I have.

Peace out for the new year

is there someone who might be willing to trade a new rca dct210 for a new or used LG-LSS3200a. this box fits my needs but d*tv can't say for sure what box they will send me again, I have a feeling it will be the rca.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I'm in the market for a new HD box as I'm looking to drop my TWC and just get over-the-air (keeping my Roadrunner though).  Anyhow, I bought an old RCA DTC-100 to use on my Sony 1272 projecter (as both share RGB connections), and am now looking for another box to use on my 50" Toshiba.  This next box I have needs to have component, and preferably an RGB output that way if anything goes wrong with the RCA, I can still swap this other one to use on my Sony projector.

Since someone here is worried they'll get the new RCA instead of one they want, maybe we can work a deal where I can buy a receiver (new or used) from someone, and you take the money and get whatever else you were hoping for.  I'm not too fussy with the picture settings, as I haven't had one yet (I'm sure I'd be in the same boat as everyone else if I got used to certain settings, THEN lost them when changing boxes).

I know I won't be using the box for DirectTV, only OTA, so the ESPN-HD problem people are talking about is not an issue.  Plus, I won't need the D* access card, so if that stays with you or gets a new home with someone else here, so be it.

I've been looking to Ebay, but if I can find something local & help someone here out, I'd prefer to do that.

thanks for offering some help but I am not willing at this time to spend any of my own money when d*tv will send me a new box for free, if someone doesn't mind what i explained in the thread I was hoping that they wouldn't mind trading especially if they had a used lg receiver. still open for offers and suggestions though
thanks
