As ususal no time lines, just the same old story but here is a copy of an email I just received from John Baich.

: as follows :

Mr. Lengling:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding WITI's DTV.  We share your frustrations, however, we can not move our antenna to our main tower until the tower reenforcement project,  which is now underway,  is complete. I am sure that you will appreciate the unique nature of a 998' self supporting tower and the special requirements and care a contractor must take in properly dealing with this tower.  We are proceeding with this project as quickly as we can, however, worker and property safety are our primary concern and will not be compromised for a schedule.  Please hang in there, improvements are on their way.

Sincerely,

John J. Baich

And it's a darn shame the FCC just snuck up on them and only gave them 5 freakin years to get it done!  Hang in there? We HAVE been!

To be fair to Fox 6, they seem to be operating fully within the requirements of the FCC guiedlines. They are only operating with an STA. Maybe Jim Hall can enlighten us as to what the requirements and time limits are in regards to operating with an STA, being that 58 is operating under one also, albeit 1000 times better than Fox 6! Right now Fox is just disrespecting Milwaukee, but they aren't doing anything "wrong". If we know what the time requirements are for the STA then we can rail on them when the time comes.

Technically, I suppose they are in complience but that really misses the point. WITI is a consumer driven business whose existence depends on how many eyes watch their feed. Does it make sense in view of this to intentionally piss off any group of viewers by playing the old artful dodger game of technical complience when there is no good reason to do that? Contrast with Jim Hall over at 58 who has surged to the head of the class with his HDNet deal. Early adopters do infuence the perceptions of new buyers, especially with the advent of the internet. Faux 6 is off to a bad start and will have a lot of catching up to do.

I'm not arguing that they don't suck. I was just saying that aside from yelling at deaf ears and boycotting their NTSC signal, there isn't a whole lot we can do right now. Yes it's consumer driven, yes they are showing no regard for their market, but they are doing all of this within the legalities of the law..
