Anybody heard about TWC adding Comcast Sports net before the Cubs season starts, I don't want to switch to Dish or Direct, but I will if I have to

If you use a Kenosha address for either D* or E*, you'll be blacke dout of the Cubs & Sox games on CSN.  YOur local RSN for satellite is FSN-North.  If you want CSN baseball, you'd need to buy the MLB Extra innings package.

Sorry but what is D* and E*?

Gregg Lengling

D* is short for Directv, E* is short for the old name of Dish Network (EchoStar).

Make your request to the Marketing group at TWC if you want to see this channel.  A letter would go farther than any phone call, so encourage others to write in as well if you want the channel.

That's never going to happen unless one buys the other.

They just added 26 more cable systems, all in IL, In & IA.  Doesn't look like they are going into WI at all.  All of these agreements are with small cable systems, but they are being carried on the other major systems in Chicago, like WOW & downstate they are carried by Charter, so it looks like they'd be willing to talk to Time Warner.  Here's the article from their website:

Chicago, IL – Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the new 24-hour regional sports network featuring the Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox and Cubs, has announced it has reached agreements with a number of key systems throughout Illinois, Iowa and Indiana scheduled to add Comcast SportsNet on their respective channel line-ups beginning January 1, 2005. Beginning in January, Comcast SportsNet Chicago's subscriber count will grow to over 3.4 million from its 50 affiliates. The announcement was made by James J. Corno, Senior Vice President/General Manager for Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

The following systems are scheduled to launch Comcast SportsNet on January 1:
- Atkins Cablevision, Inc. (Atkins, IA)
- Bellevue Municipal Cable (Bellevue, IA)
- Butler-Bremer Mutual Telephone Co. (Plainfield, IA)
- Cass Cable TV (Virginia, IL)
- Cedar Falls Municipal Utilities (Cedar Falls, IA)
- Clarence Telephone Company, Inc. (Clarence, IA)
- Consolidated Communications (Mattoon, IL)
- East Buchanan Telephone Cooperative (Winthrop, IL)
- F & B Communications (Wheatland, IA)
- Farmers Mutual Telephone Company (Jesup, IA)
- Independence Telecommunications Utility (Independence, IA)
- Inter County Cable Company (Brooklyn, IA)
- Iowa Network Services (Clear Lake, IA, et. al.)
- L.N. Satellite Communications Co. (Lost Nation, IA)
- McLeodUSA Telecommunications Services, Inc. (Cedar Rapids, IA)
- MTC Communications (Colchester, IL)
- Muscatine Power and Water (Muscatine, IA)
- New Paris Telephone's Quality Cable, Inc. (New Paris, IN)
- Partner Communications (Gilman, IA)
- Readlyn Telephone Co. (Readlyn, IA)
- Shellsburg Cablevision, Inc. (Shellsburg, IA)
- South Benton Cablevision (South Benton, IA)
- Tel Star Cablevision (Metamora, IL)
- Van Horne Cablevision (Van Horne, IA)
- Viola Communications (Viola, IL)
- WTC Communications (Wilton, IA)

"We're thrilled to be able to provide even more subscribers throughout Illinois, Indiana and Iowa with our thorough coverage of the Chicago sports scene," said Corno. "With our unrivaled coverage of our pro teams to our comprehensive line-up of local sports news and talk programming, we look forward to completing our distribution potential by adding the remaining distributors not currently receiving our network in the near future."

For a complete list of all areas carrying Comcast SportsNet Chicago, consumers can click on the "CONTACT" button at the top of our website for channel location and additional information. Comcast SportsNet will be making additional announcements as new distributors add the network to their channel line-ups. Subscriber questions as to when service will be available in areas not listed should be directed to their local cable or satellite provider.

I believe this is not true.  In the 2004 season, most of Wisconsin between Milwaukee and the border was within the Cubs viewing area.  Milwaukee and most of the suburbs are not in the viewing area , but parts of the southern suburbs (Oak Creek, etc) as well as most of Kenosha and Racine county are in the Cubs viewing area.  However, the city of Racine is not for some odd reason (grrr...).

The link below gives the zip codes that are blacked out for mlbtv internet Cubs games.  They are blacked out because they are the Cubs tv viewing area.

I did talk to someone at TWC in Milwaukee and she indicated that they are presently in negotiations with Comcast, their concern is right now the Bulls games are blacked out and their are no Hockey games.  I said that there are thousands of Cub fans that will really be upset if this channel is not picked up by the start of baseball season.
