I was asking why D* didn't have it....

I wasn't asking if Cable had it......

This always leads to the D* and cable debate... and maybe you were taking a "shot" at D*, that cable is better - I don't know.

But everyone knows that D* doesn't have FOX Sports HD, so why else would you point that out?

But I'm not ready to get into that whole argument.  I just was trying to see if it was available on D*.

Then it would be very helpful to the group to add that little piece of info within your post.  Tag lines indicating your gear at home also helps everyone figure out who is subscribed to specific providers.

mhz... the subject of my message (Bucks-Det in HD on D* tonite?) was very clear that this was a DIRECTV issue.... nowhere did I talk about cable and it's availability...

"Shows up in the guide (channel 94) as being on" also makes it clear it is a D* issue... as HD channels for cable are in the 500's...

I don't think my message could have been any clearer.... but some people, when you post about D*, like to point out that it is available on cable, just to irritate...

And that is what I thought was going on.....my post was clear for what I was looking for... and I thought the response of "it's on FOX HD" was also clear - it's on cable.  Nowwhere did I ask nor say anything about cable.

Jeesh.

Mags

good point about the tag line regarding the "gear"... how do you add that information?

Guys, I called Direct TV about this NBA-HD problem.

I have both the HD package and NBA League Pass.  About every other night, I see an NBA HD game or two listed in the channel 92-96 range.

And every night I try to watch that channel, but its blacked out, even for non Bucks NBA games.

So, I contacted DirectTV today.  Their rep told me "The NBA chooses to make certain HD feeds available to us, and others it makes not available to us. So some games you get, and others you don't"

I told the guy, that I get ZERO of these games---they are all blacked out, even though listed on the channel guide.

So I asked the guy, well, if I pay for both HD and NBA packages, AND you have the game on the channel guide, wouldn't that indicate that the feed is available and I should be able to get it?  The logic of the Direct TV response made no sense.

The guy said "I told you what I told you"  Then I nicely asked if there was ANYONE who could answer my question during the course of the week if I call back.  Again I was told "I told you what the answer is. i.e. 'scram' "

After a few more pleadings for another contact, I got nowhere.  First time ever I had an awful Direct TV customer experience.

Does anyone know why we can't watch those HD games on CH 90-96 when they show up?  Especially if you pay for the NBA and HD packages?

You should get the NBA-HD game if you have League Pass.

Sometimes there are Dallas Maverick HD games listed that are just broadcast in the Dallas Market (I wish Mark Cuban owned the Bucks!!!!)  They are made available on D* but not part of the HD or NBA league pass, just special events for the dallas market.

Look on the NBA HD schedule here NBA TV HD schedule .

Call D* when a game is on and tell them you should be getting it.
This goes with NBA TV and league pass, not the HD package.  You should not need the HD package to receive the NBA HD game, but you obviously need the HD receiver.

There should not be any blackout issues involved with any team other than the Bucks in this situation.

I just checked and I am getting Lakers vs Hornets on ch. 90.  in HD.  I wasn't home to watch and/or see if the Bucks vs Pistons was on ch. 94 and if I got it.

Scott

Smack..thanks..I just checked and amazingly am getting the Lakers game tonight!  Yahoo!

Your Mavericks note helps also, since most of the HD games I see listed are Maverick's games.

Still, I go back to the problems with these stupid protectionist things.....if I can watch the Mavs game on channel 723 anyways with League pass, why can't I see the HD feed on ch. 90?  I have encountered that problem a lot with Maverick games this year.  I am not in the market of either the Mavs or their opponent, so what difference is it whose feed I see?

Similar problem with the Bucks game being blacked out last night against the Pistons.....since Direct TV doesn't see fit to carry FoxSports HD, the least they could do is let us see the HD feed.

It was available on 642 - which is the Fox Sports RSN...

It was also available on 601 - the NBA TV channel - this was a simulcast of the 642 channel (same announcers)

IT was NOT available on 94 - which is the NBA TV HD Version of the game.... this too, I'm sure, is a simulcast of Fox Sports HD Coverage...

So they will duplicate the SD feed (which everybody gets anyway in this area), but do not duplicate the HD feed (which we can't get)....  AARGH!
