WLTQ is officially gone.

Just caught a top-of-the-hour station ID: "The Brew" is WQBW

WTF ?

Tom, any insight to the call choice ??

John L

Thanks for the info.  Its mighty important for our DXers to log this, especially a Call Letter change.  This is cool!

Now that they did all this damage, when do they go back to WLTQ and soft and easy music?  (LOL!)   Gee I miss the "ALL Christmas" music format they had at this time last year.

You were aware of the format change, right? And are just asking about the Call letters?

The Light97.3 format went away in September amid stunt-induced speculation that they were going to switch to Liberal Talk Radio.

As far as call letters, I guess the WQBW is as close as they'll ever get to WBRW (which are already taken)... just the fact that BW is in there wil have to be good enough.

That's the problem with a cookie-cutter format... everyone is trying to get call letters close their name, which is the same name/format as 2 dozen other copies of the same format across the country...

I mean, look at Kiss 103.7 here.. WXSS???? Sheesh!

Yes I was aware of the format change back in September from Day 1.  Call Letters are new thou, must have changed either today or during the weekend.

Yeah I wish WXSS would go away and return back to WEZW.

Gosh.. thank you! :)

I was the program director at WEZW back in the arly 90's.  Got fired for not being willing to make it "edgier and younger." :bang:

I thought so.  Back when I first came onto this board your name seemed familiar.  Between you and Don Rosen, those were great days of listening to a format that obviously died.  Course KNXR in Rochester, MN is owned by a local individual and still airs beautiful music format.  I assume their concentration of listeners are the high age bracket like 55 and over.  Rochester obviously has lot of senior citizens taking up temporary residence there due to spouse or loved one getting treatment at the mayo clinic.

Being 45 I've always loved the instrumental type music or beautiful musicv, also known as "Elevator" music ever since I was a kid.  Don kept it going at WHKQ > WEZY 92.1, but I guess he had to give it up and go more vocal soft music as advertisers dictate.  Its pretty much all over, you might find a beautiful music station to this day, but very rare.  KNXR is one of the few in this country that still have it.

Going back to the original topic of this thread. The changes made at 97.3 obviously help increased WEZY 92.1 listenership.

And don't forget Bill Moos too!

Yeah... the advertisers (Suzy 20-something Media-buyer) weren't interested in the older listeners even back then... now those people are even older... Even LTQ had lost their support.. and they had an even younger audience.

While not as convenient or ubiquitous as an over the air station, there are Easy Listening channels on Music Choice (Cable and Satellite Music channels), as well as XM Satellite radio.

Hello, I worked with Bill Moos in Milwaukee at WEZW mid 1970's. I lost track of him years ago and would like to get in contact with him if at all possible. I noticed his name mentioned here and if it is the same Bill Moos perhaps someone knows how to get hold of him.

So did my wife and I! We ran into Bill at Home Depot in West Bend two years ago. He's living up near Big Cedar Lake as I recall. Told him to call us sometime, but he never did. Wish I could give you more info.

I see on whitepages.com there is a William Moos with a West Bend, WI address, so maybe that is who you are looking for.  This may call for an old-fashioned snail mail letter to be sent.  That's probably the only way you'll get a phone number, seeing as most home and cell numbers are unlisted these days.

I found that same address, I'm going to write a letter and see if I get a reply. If it is him, I have a few pictures from the WEZW days on Capitol Avenue.
