HDTV Video card for PC??

I found this link on the web.  They are selling HDTV cards for a PC.  Wondering if anyone knows if they are worth the $$$.  I have a Sony 53HS10 and TWC, HBO and PBS being my only HD stations.  From the look of this card, it seems I could hook an OTA antenna and pick up NBC, CBS and what not using this card instead of an STB.  Am I correct in saying that?  The card is about the same price as an STB.  It also says it has the ability to record HD signals to your hard drive and play them back.  Any thoughts???

Actually a few of us have talked about it, one of the guys here has the HiPix card and recommends it.  This card seems to be pretty popular with folks on other forums such as www.avsforum.com  and www.hometheaterspot.com

The only drawback is that it apparently won't record NTSC, but heck, we got VCRs for that!  Would be nice to have a single solution like this for both NTSC and ATSC, maybe that's not far off.

Yes, this effectively functions as a STB does.

Actually I have the HiPix card on backorder, no one has them in stock.  I've got a new computer here just for that so I can record HDTV and play some other games.  My RCA has the ATSC receiver built in but there are no outputs so there is no way I can record anything.  I picked up a 1.8gig P4 for a song last week and just getting it set up in the family room and waiting on the card.

I have the same TV that you do.  I would rather have the XBR model, but my budget wouldn't.  I have Directv and use the Sony SAT-HD100 STB.  I also have a regular (not HD) television reciever in my computer.  ATI all in one pro.  I am saving to buy the card that you were looking at.  The recording part is nice, but I can't record very long on the best setting. I have a 733 computer, a 20 gig hard drive, and 384 meg of ram.  I would say it is worth the money.  You are correct, all you have to do is hook an antenna to the card.  There is no VGA input on the TV that we have.  I don't know how to get the signal back to the TV (in HD).  Another point would be that there is only one HD input on the TV, so you would have to get some sort of switching device.  Do you have a DVD player?  If you do what input do you have it hooked up to?  You must have Road Runner internet, because I can't think of any other reason to do business with TWC.

I've never seen one in action, but there is a VGA-to-Component adapter. Go to WWW.KEYDIGITAL.COM  and click on the KD-VTCA2 Video Adapter Transcoder. Reading the specs, it seems to have had this in mind when made. It is $219 though. Go check it out.
