HDMI/DVI Question

My DirecTV/Tivo 10-250 DVR has an HDMI output jack, and the HD TV I'm considering has a DVI input jack.  The DVR comes with an appropriate cable -- HDMI at one end; DVI at the other.  So far, so good.

What I'm wondering is if I'll be missing some useful feature, because I assume that DVI is older technology.  Audio is no issue -- Tivo supplies that separately, and it will go to my sound system.  So, it's just a Video issue, for purposes of just watching HD television.

Am I OK to go ahead with the plasma video, or is there a "gotcha"?

Thanks in advance.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the differences are that HDMI carries up to 8 channels of digital sound, and it supports HDTV's new security features. You'll have no problem hooking HDMI to standard DVI, as long as the TV is HDCP enabled, which I'm sure it is.
