New register, thanks for a much needed website.  While I am relatively well versed in audiophile tech., I would ask that you pardon my ignorance re: HDTV.  I am having "issues" getting local signals via my ant., but only analog signals.  I receive WTMJ's digital signal at 100, but their analog signal is quite poor. I have not yet found FOX's digital signal, but there analog is also unacceptable.  I live less than two miles outside of downtown Milwaukee, and have a hard time accepting that I can get a crystal clear digital signal but a p--s poor analog.  Any advice would be apprieciated.

Well if you get a strong signal on WTMJ-DT (channel 28 or 4-1) you should also be able to get WDJT-DT (channel 46 or 1-1) and WMVS-DT (channel 8 or 10-1/2/3/4/5).  WDJT is only running 10.8KW ERP, I think both WTMJ and WMVS are running full power.  WITI-DT (channel 33 or 6-1 maybe) is running flea power off their studio microwave tower at Green Bay and Brown Deer Roads and I've only found 1 person on this group who can receive it.

You analogue reception problems is probably due to multipath (receiving multiple refected signals at your location).  If you have an outdoor antenna, some fine tuning (aiming) might help to get a strong signal with very few reflections. In some cases you may have so much signal that you may actually need to attenuate the receiving signal.  If you give me more complete information I may be able to help you more.

Thanks for the reply.  Your suggestions make a great deal of sense, especially that I may have a signal that is too strong for the analog reception.  I have no idea as to the quality of the ant., it was here when I moved in and is an outdoor model mounted to the inside of the attic.  I also amplified the signal before running the coaxial up to the room.  I will try some tweeking this weekend, but I don't want to lose the strong digital signals.  Being close to the airport probably doesn't help.
