There was no audio tonight from NBC on the HD feed of the Tonight Show. After several minutes they switched us to the SD feed with audio.. then back to HD without audio.

After that we gave up and switched ourselves over to the SD feed.

At 10:45 pm NBC finally messaged us that they had "an audio problem."  They suggested that all affiliates switch over to the SD feed.

Who are these people at the network level?  Maybe you could offer them some training.

  There will always be technical difficulties with new technology, doesn't mean the people behind the scenes are idiots.

Thanks for posting, Sean at TMJ!

I thought my oh-so-wonderful HD-DVR from TWC had really gone bad since the last "new code" from them, earlier.

Your attention to catch the NBC messups and report is very much appreciated. Thank you!

One thing, though...when there is no commercial and no network feed, a blank screen comes up, then sort of a screen-saver comes up with the NBC peacock's feathers plucking and replacing...it that the network or TMJ doing it?

Either way, a nice effect and it keeps my Mits from powering off.:)

The NBC peacock "screen saver" comes up on the network feed when local stations should be running local commercial breaks.

On our Master control system we need to program two events every time there is a commercial break:
1)   Play & take the commercial on the analog channel
2)   Switch the digital channel from the network HD feed to the unconverted local SD commercial.

When you see the screen saver it usually means we forgot to program the second event.

Yes, this is a relatively new technology.  I expect some technical difficulties as well.  As far as idiots go, I think that is too strong of a word.  Unqualified might be a better choice.  Or "lacking proper skills" might be a better phrase.  I'm not looking at any one incident, it's a track record that I am watching.  Not that it matters, I don't have the power to pull the plug and put new people in.....

Our local NBC station  is doing an outstanding job with HD, in my opinion.
