The Annual "WISN please show West Cost HD feeds on Sunday" drive

Once again, we have yet another opportunity for WISN to show they care about their viewers.

PLEASE SHOW THE WEST COAST FEEDS ON SUNDAY IN PLACE OF REGULAR programming on your HD feed either OTA, OTA subchannel, or TWC HD fiber feed!!!!

This time it is even more laughable as WISN will be pre-empting ABC HD programming during the game when ESPN HD will be showing the game in HD. Nobody is going to be watching 512 during the game and nobody wants a 4:3 SD Beta replay when the West Coast HD feeds are available.

You could always just pick up a DVHS and run the HD afterwards in place of the crappy Beta tape.

I doubt if a solution that simple is a possibility.

So if I understand this right, since the packers are on ESPN in HD this weekend, this will be the lineup on TWC?

WISN Channel 12 - Packers 4:3 SD

ESPN Channel 30 - Packers 4:3 SD

WISN HD Channel 512 - Packers 4:3 SD (because ESPN has the exclusive rights to HD and only allows WISN the SD feed)

ESPN HD Channel 530 - Packers 16:9 HD

Why not show a west cost HD game on WISN HD channel 512 because the packers can already be seen in 4:3 SD on two other channels.

Okay, now before anyone shoots me, I'm as ticked off about not being able to see this weekend's game in HD as the next guy (because I'm not currently paying for ESPN-HD).

But... even when 512 is showing 4:3 SD material, the picture quality there is much better than channels 12 or 30. So I would still want to see the game on 512.

BUT...... I have an even better idea! Hey, Time-Warner, are you listening? Here's my idea:

Give everyone a "free preview" of ESPN-HD this Sunday! You know, to promote the channel, encourage people to sign up. You will gain millions of friends overnight! Really!

Okay, a guy can dream, can't he?

Some of us don't get those other channels you mentioned.  Also, I don't think ABC has the rights to show any other games.

Snard's point is valid, the WISN HD picture even though 4:3 SD will at least be digital and not analog and will have a better PQ.

Why don't you sign up for the ESPN HD channel just for the day?

Sorry, I don't understand StarvingForHDTV's comment about not getting the other channels. We were only talking about changing the programming on WISN DT, channel 12's digital station. Anybody's setup should be able to get at least one of the other three.

WISN Channel 12 - OTA and cable and some satellite
ESPN SD - cable and satellite
ESPN HD - cable and satellite

STarvingForHDTV's point is also valid about seeing another game. As WISN is ABC, I don't know if they could broadcast any of the other network's games.

My only setup is over the air digital TV signals.  I don't have cable or satellite.  I also do not have a setup for over the air analog.  I could change my setup for analog over the air, but it would take an extreme situation for me to go through that hassle.

I think maybe your starving for more than HDTV, maybe your starving for TV period.  ;)  I don't know how you can stand it.

Yeah, but we're talking about showing the 10:00 CST (in progress or on sub channel) and 11:00 CST West Coast HD Feeds most likely in place of news and some Entertainment Tonight or similar. Of course they've had all the time to work on timeshifting HD, that they've spent doing....

It looks like they are going to delay DHousewives and play it at 11pm. Don't know if it will be HD or SD.

Typical.

So, instead of showing HD Boston Legal at 11 and SD Desperate Housewives at 12 or HD Desperate Housewives at 10, they're going with SD Beta tapes of both.

They've come a long way there at WISN. :bang: I can live with SD DH considering they'll repeat it in HD 1 week from Sat, but Boston Legal is on a no repeat schedule.

Not too many stations have purchased a special Video Tape machine or whatever to do HD because they are very expensive.  I'm sure eventually they will, once they save up enough money to buy such a device so that any program they wish to delay from the network or when they purchase syndicated programming thats already in HD they will be able to either delay or air syndicated programming in HD.

I'm not sure what is all involved in a full fledged HDTV station.  Most of them in USA have very to enough equipment just to relay any Network programs in HD.

The last time I visited a TV station was a couple months ago, ch. 7 the CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska.  Boy if we were living in Omaha, we would have to be doing without CBS HD programming until ch. 7 gets their tower re-built after it fell down earlier this year.

It doesn't bother me at all.  If I didn't like it, I would subscribe to one of the services.
