Hopefully they're out getting paid by WITI, WISN, and the other FCC deadbeats to do some extra work on the side this weekend.

How embarrassing! We forgot to turn the transmitter on Saturday night.
The fill-in master control operator hasn't worked that position in almost a year. I don't think he even knows he was supposed to turn the transmitter on.
Obviously we need to come up with a better way get new procedures to all master control operators.
I've e-mailed our Assistant Chief Engineer and our Manager of Technical Operations.
I better go see Steve Miller at American and get a DTV receiver at home.
And the next time someone spots a problem, call me at the station 414 967-5398, or call the Tipline 414 963-4444 and let us know. It's real easy to call over the master on the intercom and let them know.

Sure is great to see Sean so active in the group and so forthcoming in his participation. I hope we continue to be a helpful resource for him.

Sure would be nice to see all the local stations enjoying such a win-win relationship.

BTW...Dissapointing to see (or rather NOT see) Jim here this weekend to fill us in on what's going on with their signal.

Thanks Sean, glad to have you here and now I have a number to call.  It was pretty disappointing night on television and I really didn't have anything better to do.  My wife is on a 2 week trip to Holland so I'm Home Alone.......oh well thank God for DVD's so I just decided I would watch "The Fifth Element" again....this is a great movie for showing people home theater....great video and sound.

I'm glad to know it's not my equipment.  Thanks Sean for being so forthcoming.  You have my vote for MilwaukeeHTDV's "Man of the Year".

For many of you with RCA STB's or built-in tuners, our DTV signal was not transmitting the PSIP tables correctly.  The problem was correct early Sunday afternoon.

The PSIP table is a data table, which basically tell the tuners how to tune, and the format of the programming.

We apologize to those of you who could not tune in our DTV signal on Saturday evening.

Sincerely,

Jim Hall

Sorry about that Jim, I guess I misunderstood on the night of the chat...thought you were going to add the 6" line, didn't realize it was already there.  And yes you have 46 back on my receiver but if you check the message thread (in this group) about the daylight savings time bits, you will see that your people have them set wrong.  I get the proper time until I pop up 1-1 and then the time goes back 1 hour.  WMVS corrected their system bits on Friday so I get the right time from them but just now I checked and am watching PGA Golf WorldCom Classic in SDT but the time shows 2:43 pm.
Thanks for all you guys do.

Gregg;

I would check your set-up again, we are transmitting the correct time.  Are you set with DCST correctly and in the correct time zone?

I have the RCA DTC-100 and it shows the correc time from all stations in the market.

Yes I have it set right.  I thought I'd try a rescan but still the same.  When I go to 10-1 the time is correct but as soon as I go to 1-1 the backs up an hour.

Is it possible on your STB to have different settings for different channels,  time zones, daylight savings, etc....?

Its odd that its correct on my set, at the transmitter site, and at the station monitoring point.

What STB or built-in are you using?

JH

Gregg Lengling

I've got the RCA P61310 which from what I understand is the same as the 100 STB that you say you have.  It is set for Central and Daylight.  It adjusts itself to Standard time everything I go over to your station.  It will stay there until I go to WMVS or WTMJ (when they're on the air), and then it resets to the proper time off their signal.

Gregg;

We will check to see if there is some other code that we are not transmitting that is required for your STB to work.  At this point, I believe you, and we will have to investigate further, but at this point I canot think of what will solve this issue for you.

Is it possible with your STB to have different settings with regards to the time on each channel or is it just one pre-set?

Try this, go to 10-1 or 4-1 and then switch to 1-1.  If the clock is off, go to the time pre-sets and check to see if Central and Daylight are selected.  I just want to make sure that you cannot have different time pre-sets channel dependent.

Gregg Lengling

Already did the Jim. It seems it's a global preset, doesn't matter what channel I'm on when I go into the menu.  The setup is still Central US time with Daylight savings.  Channel 10 was also like this until Friday, they found a bit that was improperly set....I don't remember completely but there was 1 bit for daylight savings and then another bit that was supposed to be transmitted for the month before the change or some such thing.  I guess I should go read the technical guide on how this is all done.
Thanks for the help
