Which Antenna?

Hi folks,

Okay... I've about had it with the spotty reception of FOX6 and WB18. I'm ready to move my antenna from the garage rafters to the roof. I have a  RS antenna  that I could move outside or should I go with a Channel Master 4228 on a rotor? The latter would allow me to receive Chicago and other distant stations. However, would it cause problems receiving the closer local stations? It is a 'long distance' antenna after all?

Anything thoughts are appreciated.

I have absolutly no experience with this but you may as well try the antenna you already have first. It may suprise you!

It appears that both antennas under 'consideration'

are UHF type, that works on channels 7 thru 59 OK/well....

Yes, channels 7 thru 13 are VHF...

For the Big CM 4228, you may want to 'Try'

using the Rotor and the antenna's back end to pick up

the local Milwaukee Hi power digital TV stations...

That may work if Janesville & Madison are 'off' the

 affected Hi Power MKE channel....

Hi Steve,

Dan B. here.  I just replaced my Radio Shack rooftop VHF/UHF (VU-90 XR) with a Channel Master 4221a UHF only.  I was tempted to get the 4228, but the guy at Skywalker Communications thought that the 4221 would be plenty good since I'm only 20 miles from the east side here in Waukesha.  I too was trying to boost my WITI-DT signal as I'm only getting about 20-30% on my Samsung TS160.  Unfortunately it did not solve my FOX reception problem, but this antenna is much smaller and will work great with a rotor.  I too want to get a rotor as I am able to get most of the Madison stations if I turn it around (except for FOX47, it's VHF  ).  The really weird thing is that my WITI-DT signal went up when I faced it towards Madison, weird.  I also don't quite understand why I still get 100% signal on PBS channel 10 as this is also a VHF signal.  I guess I won't complain though.  I am looking forward to getting the CM 9521A rotor kit.  I just think it is a matter of time before FOX6 will boost their signal.

I think you would be happy with a 4228 and rotor.  Let us know what you end up doing.

hd newbie here....

just got my hr10-250 directivo, the mitsu wd 62725 is ordered.  been playing with the reciever and i could get all stations except 58 (yes, 6 came in at 70%).  the antenna is a garage rafter mounted ratshack.  i went to skywalker to pick something else up and the guy suggested the cm 4228.  hell for $18 why not give it a shot?  well, same thing.  no 58, all other stations were the same.

so, suggestions?  move it to the attic?  move it outside (ugly)?  I live se waukesha.

all help is appreciated.
