October 2004- Widescreen Review, "beginning with the November broabcast of The Lord of the  Rings, the WB will air its shows with 5.1-channel surround sound."

1. I hope WB18 has this up and running for the rotr.
2 I hope they test and try before that broadcast, the network priemer shouldn't be a time for trail and error.

Exactly...If Sinclair and TWC want to fight, the cable subsriber loses out, even though we pay (a lot).
Since we probably have their "HD Package" for $6.95, why not at very least get WB18 HD as part of this package
(and later include UPN24 HD when available).

This way, Sinclair gets their money, subscribers who want watch WB HD
(as some may not care to) get their channel.

The result? Everyone wins!

TWC: It's like this: Subscribers have cable for the reason they have cable: To either get a picture (HD in this case) because they cannot receive it OTA or don't do OTA.

So give us WB18 HD on 518!

(or add an "antenna package"- yeah, that'll happen!)

When I first moved to Milwaukee in '94, I couldn't believe that there was no FX channel on cable. When I found out it was a pissing match between the two companies, I decided to not buy cable ever from TW. to this day I haven't. I figure I've saved well over $6000.00 That pays for a lot of OTA equipment and my 1.2TB video server.

twc milwaukee, and in case mhz40 is reading this I don't mean the people that work there but just the general way the company works, ALWAYS seems to be slow on getting stuff in relations to other areas. And when I say always, I am talking back to things like Cartoon Network, Boomerang, FX, Sci-Fi, E!, etc.

720p

If that's the first LOTR that WB-HD will be showing I'm a happy man.  I saw the second and third movies in HD on PPV thru DirecTV but unfortunately not the first.  Thankfully OTA is not a problem. :)

Well, borghe, that is originally why back in 1996 I spent the 700 or so dollars (back then) for a 2-TV setup to get Sci-Fi Channel because friends in Racine with what I believe was TCI cable had it and going over there to watch shows got ridiculous after awhile so I got Directv until I moved into an apartment in 2003.
I had cable basic for local channels (until Directv added them) and later for HD locals (again) to supplement my satellite service and TV options...plus a lot of cabling and switching behind the set, of course. ;)

The message here is TWC does what TWC wants to do and if your viewing needs are not matched by having one,  there is always the competition-or you can subscribe to more than one source if your budget allows...as I once did. :)

Right now, OTA for WB HD is the only solution of many, but not all, and TWC's stubborness is regretable by its HD subscriber base that depends on it for HD availablity.:(
