Yes I know we have talked about this over and over again.  My only hope is that the "powers that be" from the appropriate stations that monitor this board might get fed up with hearing this stuff and do something about it.

WITI Channel 6 HD is nonexistent in Racine, as it is in many other areas.  Couple that with the highly pixelated picture and sound drop outs from 58 yesterday and today and your have much frustration.  :bang:

We, as HDTV enthusiasts have spent a considerable amount of money, time and effort trying to get things to work in each of our unique circumstances.  I know I have.  Yet, Channel 4 and 12 work flawlessly here in Racine and I hear few complaints.  However, 6 and 58 are just the opposite.

I know I am a novice and over simplifying -- but the common thread seems to be POWER!  When will 6 and 58 increase their power so that we can get the same quality picture we are getting from 4 and 12?

Oh well, I feel better now.  Thanks for letting me vent.

I'm not a Digital antenna TV wizz......

but I suspect the HDTV transmission problems

occurring relate to the 'Antenna system'...

Antenna type (Frequency & Power level characteristics)

  Tower structure (new or addon)

and the $$$$ (dollars) to to buy, install, and get the

hardware to function...           Then, the Power cost

to run both the Analog & Digital Transmitters...

Exactly where the weak link is...   Only the HDTV station

 knows...

I have to agree with Cobra01.  On the south side of Racine, I've pretty much lost CBS 58 in the past couple of months.  I've made no changes to my antenna system so I know the problem isn't on my end.  All other channels are still strong.  It's interesting that my meter still shows the signal to be in the 70's.  Apparently, getting a high number on the meter doesn't mean that the picture is viewable with my Toshiba DST3000.

As for Channel 6-1, I've never even tried to see if I can receive it since I watch all my FOX programming on 32-1 out of Chicago, which registers between 90 and 100 on my meter all the time (and there are never any dropouts).

Fortunately for my household, our favorite channels are Discovery HD Theater and PBS HD which we receive off of our dish in the backyard.  Here's hoping that CBS 58 joins the other Milwaukee stations soon by turning up the power so those of us in Racine can view their station.

A few nights ago, I got CBS 58 "reception" here in Racine.  Granted, the reception was so poor that the picture was unrecognizeable garbage, but it was the first time I could verify that my Samsung TV (built-in tuner) could receive 1-1 without any problems.

Unfortunately, I can't get CBS 2 out of Chicago either, so no CBS HD for me (for now).

I live just north of Port Washington and There is no fox6 there either. My 58 signal is here and there. It works about 75% of the time. My only hope is that the rumors are true and Directv puts out fox6 in HD or fox6 milwaukee boosts there weak very directional signal.:guns:

It also could be that the "powers to be" just stop calling or accessing this site as well so they don't have to deal with the complaints from viewers here.

I know I haven't seen some of the individuals on here lately that work at some of the TV stations.  They used to post here and there, but haven't in quite a while.

All,

In Caledonia, just N of 4 mile, East of 32.  I also am able to pick up everything but FOX and CBS.  I struck a faint signal fo rthe first time on 1-1, 1-2, 1-3.  Enough of a signal to hold the channel in my sammy 351 BUT no picture?  I can aim my antenna anywhere between 300? & 350? and pick em all but FOX and CBS.

I jusy did a test and spun the antenna around to aim @ 175? and I now get:
NBC 5 CHI
ABC 7-1 CHI
ABC 7-2 CHI News Now
ABC 7-3 CHI Metro Vision Radar Weather
WGN WB 9-1 CHI
WGN WB 9-2 CHI (Spanish)
MPTV 10-1 - 10-7 MIL
ABC 12-1 MIL
WFLD "FOX" 32-1 CHI
WMPTD2HD 36-1 MIL
WSNS 44-1 CHI (Spanish)
WPWR  UPN 50-1 CHI
WPXE PAX 55-1 MIL
WXFT 60-1 CHI

So, it looks I lost NBC 4 out of Milwaukee but picked up a ton of others.  Mainly FOX.  Now as long as they show Packer games and not Bears games I will be in great shape and keep the antenna faced 175?.

This was a cheap outdoor antenna I picked up at Radio Shack tonight.  My plan is to throw it up in the garage attic.

Not everything.  I don't see 18, 24, and 30 on your list. 18 does also do HD.

It could be that they have no "good" news to share.  Why risk sticking your neck out to get your head chopped off by a bunch of electronics geeks, if what they are asking for is out of your control anyway?  That's my theory at least.

It is funny why the stations in Milwaukee aren't broadcasting in full power while all the stations out of Green Bay are.  It is nice to live up in Fond du Lac because we can recieve all the networks' hd signals.

Den Mayer

A very minor Green Bay correction....

Six of 7 GBay TV Networks are Full Power Digital with

   HD pass thru capability....

WB-HD WIWB-DT Chan 21 is 80% Power, Std Def only.....
       until next spring...

These results were achieved by most GBay DTV stations

teaming up on Common 'new' towers & Common

Antennas....      Both stations upgrading at the same

  time with a co-operative plan....    Saving $$$$    &

  working with a partner.....

Side MKE Note:    Since MKE Time Warner C offers

FOX-HD (Packer NFL games) on TWC chan 506,

why are so MKE HD fans upset about the loss

     FOX-HD 6.1 OTA???

In GBay, our only HDTV Program hole of

significance is that TWC does not carry FOX-HD

NFL games possibly due to FOX station relationship

      in Indy...    Nuff said...
