In the Kudo's to Fox 6 thread a discussion started about  a member not seeing the graphics package during the Packer game.

Along those lines.... Just the opposite.

Maybe it's just me but, I'm really irritated that the graphics on the HD  broadcasts are positioned for a standard 4:3 broadcast.

It's not just Fox, MNF is the same.

Why?

Is it because,

(A) they do not have the facilities to generate a separate package for each broadcast format?

(B) "most people won't care"?

(C) Give us some time, we're working on it.

Just Curious

When a TV Network shoots a live HDTV NFL game,

the majority of the audience is viewing that

signal on a 4:3 SD analog set......

You might notice at times, HD cameras have the 4:3

 frame outlined at times..

So we HD'ers receive the wide angle shot as

a std benefit.... plus the crystal clarity...

Now to add crawlers & superposition info of different

widths, takes more equipment and/or people at

this time to offer more than just a cropped 4:3

picture from the HD 16:9 picture source......

We're not going to shoot both HD & 4:3 game Formats...

At this time in the HD transition period,

I don't worry too much about details, I just

have Thanks for the HD NFL pictures available......

With the available 4x3 and 16x9 TV's, I'm nto sure if this will ever go away... Otherwise consumers zooming in on a 16x9 frame to eliminate the bars on the top & bottom of the 4x3 screen will have the graphics cropped off on the right & left sides.

Kinda what I figured.

Doesn't hurt to ask (most of the time)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just curious if there was another explanation.

Football in HD IS one of lifes litle perks.

Now if we can just get Nextel Cup races in HD

(wild rumor has it for full season  in 05):D

That's another thread

Thanks for the info

I am extremely thankful for NFL in HD also.  It's so much better than the alternatives.

  If I'm correct....

NASCAR Nextel Cup racing has been on HDTV

the last 8 weeks on TWC TNT-HD Channel.....

This has been a pleasant surprise...    Now it

(NASCAR HD) conflicts with the NFL HD games....

I was the one who was "missing" the graphics on the screen last week. Some had said that it was overscan, which it wasn't. The graphics were up this week. Apparently I just didn't watch it enough last week, as it must have been going on and off. I am just accustomed to the top score graphic always being on.

I watched some of the NASCAR race last week, and while it is nice that it is in widescreen, it would be even better if it was in true HD. It gets kind of hard to identifiy which car is which, because of PQ. It is still better than watching in SD and streching the screen.

Cheers,
Mark
