You may have noticed that there is now a PBS channel 10-5. You may have noticed that it is a mirror image of the PBSYOU.ORG channel 10-3. I talked to the engineer at the station and he had this to say. 10-5 is meant to be just for local Milwaukee content such as 24-hour local weather radar and whatever else they can think of. It's still in the early stages and will be a more narrow bandwidth then the other 4 PBS channels. But, there is a problem. Lately it's supposed to be showing a live camera of eagles nesting up north. For people with STBs that are NOT the RCA DCT-100, they should be seeing the eagles just fine. For us MAJORITY DCT-100 owners, it's a different story. He said that he can get the eagle to show up on their other STBs , but that channel 10-3's picture keeps showing up on 10-5 on their DCT-100 at the station. He is working to figure out why and fix it. Rescanning did not seem to help on theirs or mine. What about everyone else?!?! Are you guys getting the same?!? I haven't checked since yesterday so I don't know if he's fixed it yet or not.

Just got home and tried and yeah I get PBSU also....I have the DTC100 built in my TV....I hope that isnt' the problem.....oh well I know most of the engineers at 10/36 as a handful of them belong to an Amateur Radio Club that I do...I'll see them next Wednesday nite at a meeting and see what I can find out...otherwise I'll just call their boss David and see what gives..
Meanwhile let's see if the other guys with the other type of STB's have the same results.

I've got the Sony SAT-HD100 and my reciever has never mapped channel 10-5.  My reciever mapped channel 10-1,10-2,10-3,10-4, and 10-6.  Today when I read your post I turned on my reciever and tried the auto add to see if channel 10-5 would map.  Much to my surprise the reciever mapped all the PBS channels to 8-1 thru 8-4 and the message at the bottom of the screen read "searching for digital signal".  So I did the auto add again, and this time it mapped back to the 10's, except now I have channel 10-5 and no channel 10-6!  I get the eagle image just fine.

After Tracks Ahead went off the air this afternoon and they switched back to multicasting from the HD format 10-5 came up with the nesting eagles.  I guess maybe the TV had to be on when they did the switch to get all the proper data, or maybe they had a glitch and rectified when the did the switch in formats this PM.  So everything is perfect now...10 analogue, 10-1, 10-2, 10-3, 10-4, and 10-5 with the Eagles.

I did not do any re-scan with my DTC-100, but I do have a blurry picture of a nesting eagle on 10-5.

Here's an update I got an e-mail from one of the engineers at WMVS/WMVT about this.

Hello Greg;

The softness of the 10-5 feed from WMVS is do to the low encoding rate.
It is broadcast as a learning feed hopefully until the eaglets leave the
nest. It is a live feed and current plans are to have it available from
sun to sunrise  to sunset.
