High-def channel begins with coverage of the U.S. Open.

Washington, DC (August 30) -- DIRECTV, the nation's largest
satellite TV operator, tonight added Bravo HD to its package of
High-Definition TV channels.

The satcaster had announced earlier this month that it would add
Bravo HD as part of a larger agreement with NBC, which owns Bravo.
However, DIRECTV had not officially revealed when the channel
would go on the air. Bravo HD, which airs such shows as The West
Wing and Inside the Actor's Studio, began broadcasting tonight on
DIRECTV with coverage of the U.S. Open tennis tournament.

In addition to Bravo HD, DIRECTV offers ESPN HD, Discovery HD,
HDNet, HDNet Movies and high-def versions of HBO and Showtime.
(The satcaster also provides a high-def Pay-Per-View channel.)
However, this is the first high-def network that DIRECTV has added
in more than a year.

The DIRECTV high-def package costs $10.99 a month.
