You had better get on the ball neomaxi. We have already picked ours up and people are posting all over this board. Where have you been?

You don't have to wait to be called, just go in and get one.

Man... I called and they said I had to wait until someone called me..... They said they were calling people on the list in the order they were received.

I can just go in and by my origial DVR replaced?

Absolutely !!!!
Read all the other post on this forum. We have all already picked them up. Just go into any location and swap your box.

Thanks for the info.
I called back... got a different person and she told me to just come in and pick it up....

They said they had too many people on the list to call, they just sent a letter out and starting giving them out right way.

She said they have more than enough on hand....

Had heard 1500 people are on a waiting list, but I thought
I would call at 7:45am this morning. The TWC person said I could
come by and pick up an HD DVR, which I did and it works great!
You do not have to bring in your old one at the same time.

Just wanted to let people know they are in stock at Mayfair Office.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the TWC HD-DVR has (working) firewire?  I doubt it but I have to ask. ;)

Picking up mine today...
Tom,

I hope you are reading the messages in the "Official SA 8000HD DVR Users Thread", so you know some of us are experiencing a nightmare trying to get this box working on our setups. Unless someone posts a magic message in one of these threads that makes everything better, my box is going back today & I'm getting a Pioneer box back.

To 720p: I can tell you that my SA 8000HD doesn't even have Firewire ports on the back. The manual shows these ports as "optional", but there is just blank metal on my box (i.e not even a cover plate, just the chassis.) Apparently some users have received boxes with those ports present.

Followup to my previous post - I was able to get the box working properly with the help of a posting by RS922. The quick tip is: if your box comes up in SD mode (giving pinkish tinted monochrome video), then at the box, while it is turned on, hold the Channel up button and briefly tap the Volume - button (don't press it too long, or it may toggle more than once). The LED display will briefly say HD, and the video will flip to HD mode. You will then find the Aspect Ratio and Output Format selections in the Settings menu.

I'm basically happy with mine so far, but I have one question: when you are playing back a recording, is there a way to "dial in" to a particular spot, using the keypad on the remote? It's a pain to have to fast forward through a long program, such as the 4 hour Olympic block, to get to the spot I want. This is supposed to be random access, right? :)

One easy way to jump quickly is to start the fast forward, then press the right arrow  (next to select).  The playback will jump in 15 minute increments as the right arrow key is pressed.  You can use a similar sequence for rewind, just start the rewind, then press the left arrow.

Another use of the arrow keys....press pause, then right/left arrows to frame advance.  I think this only applies to the 8000HD, the older SD models still activate frame advance on the FF/REW keys

Man.. I feel guilty... plugged it in, and it's been working like a million damn dollars from the get-go...

If TWC would get ESPN HD and the picture quality of the non-digital channels (esp the news channles) would be watchable, I think I'd be ready to switch competely from DTV...
