New "low" priced HD front projector

It's still a compromise...it's only 1280 x 720 resolution...hence the 720p native resolution.  I realize most people won't notice the difference, but I can see the difference in the stores between sets that do this resolution and those that are full HD.

also if I am reading that correctly, they are using three separate LCD screens (convergence) and each screen is only .7" wide... you won't get a very good throw with it before it starts getting blurry.

1280X720 is full HD formate. Why would there be any difference or compromise?

1920 x 1280 is full 2 megapixel format.

it has to side convert 1080i.. 1080i, even half of that in just one field, still has a higher resolution than 720p... I think that's what he means...

I was simply referring to the minute size of the actual screens.. it says you can have a picture up to 11', but with screens that small that might really be pushing it... I mean the typical 55"+ TV comes with 7" CRTs, and that only has to go to 55". double that with a smaller initial screen and well.....

1920 X 1080 is what he means, I'm guessing.

I agree that at an eleven foot screen size there could be a noteworthy difference between 720p and 1080i/p.  Of course watching ESPN HD, ABC HD, or Fox HD would be at full resolution with this projector.

I just installed Panasonic PT500U with native 720p with 106" screen. Now I can compare it with Hitachi 61" RPTV (1080i).
Projector delivers much, much more then I expected.
I cannot tell any difference in PQ when watching VOOM using component cables, which was finally installed yesterday (it took only 5 appointments!). Yes, 106" is better then 61", but PQ is the same. Myabe Jay Leno PQ was better on TV but probaly I was too tired after installing all speakers.
Lord of the Rings on EncoreHD has the best ever PQ among all movies I saw in two years.
I did not check Voom DVI connection yet. But DVI connection between projector and Zenith DVD318 is noticebly better then the component one.
I am very impressed so far with Voom PQ. It is better then Dish Network. So Dish will be gone probaly after Olympics or even before if Voom will match the Dish programming.
Now I also as a bonus have Fox 6 - 92% signal with Voom outside OTA antenna. I could not lock Fox 6 with attiac antenna with Dish 6000 receiver.
So both PT500U and Voom are very good!

There are only 2 popular HD formats right now,  1920X1080i and 1280X720p, but there is no 1920X1280 HD format. It's not even 16X9, not if the pixels are square.
