Usually they always simulcast the severe weather info on the digital channel (I've always been under the impression that they had to), but tonight the warnings/crawler on TMJ isn't showing up on TMJ DT. A decision on their part or a miscue?

Nevermind...

5 minutes later and now they've got it running...

This is interesting.  Whats does ch. 4 do in this case?

Do they create or add a channel 4-2 for the severe weather info?

Of course not, they just move the warnings until after the commercial break when they're too late and interupt programming on the DTV station. ;) They then stay on until the next commercial break telling us they were "first" to tell us a tornado just went by. If you're still there watching you're lucky they told you after the fact and then go back to commercial, interupt programming, repeat commercials... and so on. This goes on until it is time for the infomercials to air. :D

It would be nice if they would keep network programming on their digital channel, like Leno in HD, and keep their extended news coverage to their analog channel.

Oh yes!!!  Those commercials are much more important aren't they?

NOT!!!!  It's pathetic that they can't even volunteer that time when it is critical.

I relize that WTMJ is out to make money.  How often do we have bad weather???

A:  Once or twice a year

And how long does it usually last?

No more than an hour.

How many days per year?  365 days

How many hours in one day?

24 hours.

How many bad storms per hour each year?  1 or 2 hours

How many days of bad storms?

2 or 3 days, this includes thunder and rain and snowstorms which restricts travel. With snowstorms they can be several hours where as thunderstorms and rain is 1 hour at its worse.

This will allow WTMJ-TV to sell air time to businesses at least 363 days a year, and pretty much cover the full 24 hours per day.
