A June 9, 2004 article at Forbes.com titled, "Digital TV too sparse for 2010 analogue switch-off" reports on a study by Informa Telecoms and Media Group and concludes that while DTV will reach a third of households worldwide by 2010, "analogue switch-off" is unlikely to take place in any country. The data is from the Informa Telecoms and Media Group publication Global Digital TV (4th Edition) published in May 2004. The report can be purchased for $1,125 and samples can be downloaded after registration. The Forbes article said that 91 percent of U.S. households will have digital TV by 2010 but quoted report publisher Simon Murray saying that he did not see "analogue switch-off" until 2015. It wasn't clear if this applied to the United States or to the United Kingdom and Europe, where the spelling "analogue" is more common.

For more information on the DTV transition, refer to the Forbes article and the Informa Telecoms and Media Group Web site.
