Since it appears that according to the SciAtl website the 3250 can convert to any resolution including 480p, would it be conceivable then that you could record an HD signal in the best resolution a DVD recorder can handle with either DV input or Component Inputs?  You should also be able to get a reasonable amount of recording time, too.  This would be assuming that the resolution is changable by the consumer.  After you were done recording, you could switch the 3250 back to 1080i or 720p for optimal viewing.

If anyone has a 3250, let us know if you can change the  resolution and have the HD signals get downcoverted to 480p.  Also let us know if their were any artifacts cause by the downconversion.
