Noticed something regarding WVTV

So we all know by now that the FCC granted WCGV 24 an extension out to 5/1/2003 for their power up. Well, while searching through the FCC Elcetronic Filing System I have found that WVTV's extension has still not been granted. Now it certainly would be nice to look and see it denied, but not granted over 3 months after submission is looking positive.

I still wonder if the discrepency has to do with the fact that WB has HD content to air while UPN still has no HD material. Here's to hoping the FCC doesn't find a valid reason to extend WVTV's sign on and starts fining them.

And to any Sinclair employees reading this, yes I understand the costs and complexity of turning on your digitaL signal, but missing the 5/1/2002 deadline is one thing. Heck, you even miss your six month extension by a few weeks that wouldn't be so bad. But trying to postpone this for a year is ridiculous. You want to complain about how you have so many TV stations you have to upgrade and how expensive it is? No problem. Just let the FCC take away a few of those broadcast licenses. That'll make it cheaper.

We'll be up by the May deadline...

We'll be up by October... and "F*** you, Why shouldn't we oppose the ATSC standard (even though it was set 5 years ago) that doesn't perform as well at low power?, no I can't provide details, how did you get through to this number?" - unknown disgruntled Sinclair Engineer

November?... - much more pleasant employee, still completely unaware of Milwaukee details

December, but not HD and at low power... (Since we already protested to the FCC that it doesn't do so well at low power we'll show 'em by pissing off the entire nation's communities in Sinclair zones by broadcasting in low power only)

Jan...

They got another extension for the WB station and it's quite clear they are going to do nothing but multicast the two off of a 9 volt battery and a flagpole. Sinclair's "MisterDTV" may be all for HD, but his employer is not. Perhaps this is why he doesn't adequately respond to emails with any relevant details on this subject. We'll probably see true HD on Fox before we ever see HD on a Sinclair station.
